The Social Network is getting a long-awaited sequel, but no, it won’t feature Jesse Eisenberg as the controversial founder of Facebook. A pair of rising actors are being eyed to play two entirely new roles in the follow-up film, which will follow the more recent (and destructive) impact of the popular social media platform.
Deadline reports that Oscar-winner Mikey Madison (Anora) and Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) are the top choices to lead The Social Network Part II. Aaron Sorkin, who is writing and directing the film, is basing the sequel on The Facebook Files by Jeff Horowitz for Wall Street Journal. If deals are made with the actors, White would play Horowitz, while Madison would be in line to play the whistleblower behind the articles that exposed Facebook’s questionable internal strategy and lack of care for the harmful effects of their platform.
