Are We Getting Any Fires on Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 10?

Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 10 is turning up the heat, but not in the way of firefighter drama.

Everything seems focused on relationships, and while that can be fun, the show isn’t just about hooking up or personal drama.

We’re tuning in for the saves, as well, and Chicago Fire used to be consistent in that. Things have changed recently.

Are There Any Fires At All?

While we certainly watch for the relationship drama — and there’s always been plenty of it — we also watch for the fires.

We want to see how our favourite characters get out of tough situations, and we tune in to see the calls that they make when their lives are on the line.

In fact, some of the calls have been the best and most memorable parts of the episodes, and they don’t have to include fires.

Who doesn’t remember the guy who fell through the grate? I don’t walk over a grate at all anymore!

(Peter Gordon/NBC)

What about the kid who ended up hanging from a beam in a warehouse accidentally, or the time that Severide rappelled down the side of a skyscraper to save a kid?

The heroic saves remind us of everything that real firefighters go through, and while they’re not always accurate portrayals, they put the heroism of real firefighters at the forefront of our minds.

And yet, Chicago Fire Season 14 is putting more focus on relationships than anything else. Even some of the saves are more about setting up relationship storylines than about the realities of the fires.

We had Herrmann’s house fire, and now we’ve had the arson investigation that has put Van Meter’s life on the line. Can you recall another major fire?

When it comes to the saves, there’s been a lot of focus on car accidents and medical patients, and sure, they’re wonderful stories to get, but it’s meant we don’t get the entirety of Firehouse 51 in action.

Chicago Fire Turns Up the Heat

Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 10 will certainly turn up the heat, but the promo makes it clear that it’s not about fires at all.

We see Novak hooking up with Dr. John Frost from Chicago Med, and if you don’t watch Chicago Med, you may not know that much about him.

Chicago Fire hasn’t once shown us that Novak and Frost are hooking up, except for the initial tease that something could happen during the One Chicago crossover in 2025 — and then, Novak started hooking up with Damon!

It seems a little odd to put so much focus on the two of them in a promo when there’s been so little focus on them up to this point.

The promo usually includes a brief mention of one of the episode’s calls, hinting that a character’s life could be on the line or that Firehouse 51 will need to tackle something difficult.

This makes us want to tune in to see how Firehouse 51 will handle something with an added emotional pull.

A relationship that we know nothing about? It’s hard to care about that, making this episode one that can be missed live and watched on catch-up instead.

The synopsis doesn’t help much either, with the initial part focusing on Novak’s exploration of a new romantic connection.

Novak explores a new romantic connection; Vasquez deals with the aftermath of his father’s recent release.

(Peter Gordon/NBC)

The second part of the synopsis is all about Vasquez yet again. His dad is out of prison, and now Vasquez needs to deal with that.

What about an emergency? What about the other major storylines that are happening, such as Van Meter, Stellaride hitting a rocky patch, and even Mouch being transferred?

But here we are, with no images of the episode released at the time of writing, not even a hint of a call.

Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 10 will give us a lot of relationship heat, but will there be anything out in the field?
