Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen clarified comments he made earlier this week about his current teammates, saying they weren’t a shot at ex-teammate Stefon Diggs.
“I know there’s a lot of people talking out there,” Allen said Wednesday, according to Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. “Again, I’m not trying to tear down anybody.”
Following Buffalo’s blowout win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football, Allen said it’s a “wonderful thing when you got a bunch of guys that don’t care about the stats, they don’t care about the touchdowns.” Some fans and sports talk shows perceived that as a shot at Diggs.
“Again, I love 14 (Diggs). I still do,” Allen said. “But everyone wants to keep making this thing a thing. We’re so focused on what’s going on inside of our building, and that’s the only thing we’re caring about right now.”
Diggs spent four seasons with the Bills before they traded him to the Houston Texans this offseason.
Buffalo’s offense has been on fire to start the campaign, ranking first in EPA/play and success rate, according to Ben Baldwin’s database. Allen has spread the ball around as six different players have caught a touchdown this season.
“We’re building each other up right now, and that’s all we’re trying to do and trying to stay together as a team,” Allen said. “We’re really caring about each other, and everybody in this building’s got that feeling.”
Allen ranks first in the NFL in passer rating (133.7) and quarterback rating (92.6). He hasn’t thrown an interception through three contests.
The 3-0 Bills will face off against the 1-2 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
