Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet 2022

Resuming its regular May schedule, the 2022 Cannes Film Festival is back with its annual celebration of fashion and film. The event typically attracts a glamorous crowd of A-list celebrities who dress to the nines for their appearance on the red steps. In fact, this year saw the presence of royal-family members, namely Princess Diana’s nieces Lady Amelia Spencer and Lady Eliza Spencer in coordinating Alberta Ferretti. The duo attended the “Top Gun: Maverick” screening in textured black gowns with pleats and crystal embellishments, respectively. After a cancellation in 2020 due to the pandemic, the festival returns in its full fashion glory, and the looks will surely reflect that.

With jury stars like Deepika Padukone, Rebecca Hall, Noomi Rapace, and Jasmine Trinca, plus an impressive lineup of films, the two-week festival is an exciting one for movie buffs and style enthusiasts alike. Last year, Bella Hadid stole the show in a plunging Schiaparelli couture gown embellished with a gilded necklace that took the shape of lungs. And we were not disappointed with her array of archival Versace outfits this year. It’s fair to say we should expect a similar rush of adrenaline from this year’s style moments. In fact, Lori Harvey already provided that in a breathtaking, buttery-yellow strapless ball gown she donned for the opening ceremony. Another highlight was the sparkly, one-shoulder sari dress Padukone wore on the first day, which had gold and black sequined stripes. Hall also stunned in a sweeping red-and-pink Gucci gown, custom-made and embellished with crystals. On the third day, Anne Hathaway took our breath away in a ravishing two-piece skirt ensemble designed by Giorgio Armani and a blue stone Bulgari necklace reminiscent of the one from “Titanic.”

Ahead, see the looks we’re already smitten with, and check back here for daily updates as Cannes progresses (ending on May 28). As more red carpet looks are unveiled, we promise these style moments will be worth a double take.
