Characters of the Week: Will Trent, The Lincoln Lawyer & More – Find Out Who Stole the Show!

The only thing better than television these days is the characters who continue to express us.

We’ve compiled a list of the Characters of the Week who sparked admiration, inspiration, and intrigue.

From a lovable character with heart on Best Medicine to a powerful force of nature on Industry, check out our full list below!

Faith Mitchell (Will Trent)

(Daniel Delgado Jr/ Disney)

Our girl Faith does not get enough praise, and on Will Trent Season 4 Episode 5, she finally got the story she deserved.

Faith’s arc revolved around her finally letting her heart open again through a chance encounter, and she and Malcolm had smoking chemistry.

I loved how she pretended to be an event planner named Amanda so he wouldn’t ask her for any favors and would focus only on her personality.

We saw another lighter, happier side of Faith, and I hated that it may end when Will and Ormewood identify Malcolm as one of the bank robbers.

Iantha Richardson showed so many emotions in that ending scene as Faith was in emotional denial, but had to pretend everything was okay.

Sheriff Mark (Best Medicine)

(Francisco Roman/FOX)

I’ve often found Sheriff Mark annoying, but I appreciated seeing the softer side of him on Best Medicine Season 1 Episode 5

We’ve never seen how much he truly cared about Louisa before, and I actually felt for Mark after seeing how much they had in common.

He didn’t understand why they couldn’t be together after watching that sultry karaoke. duet, I kind of agreed with him.

Mark’s a different person when he’s honest and not making dumb jokes.

I’d like this genuine side of him to appear more often, and hope that he and Louisa become really good friends now that there’s some closure. – Laura Nowak

Sweetpea Golightly (Industry)

(David Bloomer/HBO)

Spoilers ahead for Industry Season 3 Episode 5, which premiered earlier than its usual Sunday slot.

On an hour that proved what’s undeniable about some of its characters, Sweetpea Golightly was a force of nature.

For the most part, Industry Season 4 Episode 5 spotlighted one of its most underrated characters, and in doing so produced a fascinating hour that showed us exactly who Sweetpea is and what she’s capable of.

Her tenacity was awe-inspiring: when it came to tracking down the truth behind Tender, she charged through Accra, Ghana, like a woman on a mission, relentless in her pursuit of truth and, hopefully, justice.

And even after taking literal blows, it didn’t slow her down, but merely fueled her. Watching her piece together exactly what happened, an epiphany that amounted to “the thing is nothing.”

But amid all of those, we got the soft underbelly of Sweepea — a woman in the shadows of a scandal, a brilliant, talented mind dismissed and overlooked, a woman scorned.

As the adrenaline died down upon her return, so did she, the exhaustion sinking in and the full breadth of what she had endured as much of a jolt as her assault.

Aaron Thorsen (The Rookie)

(Disney/Mike Taing)

How is it that we didn’t even realize how much we missed Thorsen until he returned?

Somehow, his return on The Rookie Season 8 Episode 5 exceeded his time when he was on the show.

He was fun, astute, charming, and he was kicking butt at his job.

Thorsen brought a fresh burst of energy and life to the station, the group of our favorite characters, and to the hour itself.

It was nice to see him firmly established in his career, going undercover in ways we hadn’t realized before, and embraced so warmly by his former colleagues and friends.

Who would’ve thought that Thorsen could make everything better? Because he did!

Lorna Crane (The Lincoln Lawyer)

(Courtesy of Netflix)

Hey, the show may be called The Lincoln Lawyer, but this season, it’s Lorna Crane who was the real star.

She owned the season, as The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 placed Mickey in a terrible position, mainly in prison, and Lorna had to pick up the pieces and juggle keeping their firm afloat.

The season put Lorna to the test, and she aced it, showcasing how skilled she is at her job as she stepped outside Mickey’s shadow and thrived in the face of their “family’s” adversity.

She was equal parts fierce and vulnerable all season, as we got a very layered display from someone who at times felt more like a sidekick.

Hell, most of the season should’ve been referred to as “The Women Behind Mickey Haller” because their greatness shone through in every beat.

Adam Karadec (High Potential)

(Disney/Jessica Perez)

Yes, Morgan’s panic attack scene was so visceral that it has been living rent-free in the High Potential hive mind’s heads. It’s impossible not to think about Morgan’s breakdown as her anxiety got the best of her in a life-endangering situation.

Kaitlin Olson also gives us a fantastic performance, not just then but in the aftermath as she awkwardly talked it through with Karadec.

But it’s Karadec that’s incredibly striking during the hour. So much of how he’s feeling comes through in various scenes within the hour, and he’s at his most intriguing yet.

His conversation with ex/current paramour, Lucia, reveals a man who has learned to open up and be more vulnerable since they last were together, and a genuine affection and desire to connect with someone—maybe even her.

And how he went from startled by Morgan’s panic to her port in the storm and anchor solidified their bond in new ways and cracked open something for him, too.

Every glance, lingering or otherwise, gave us a little peek into the mind of a man who often keeps his emotions close to the vest, and Daniel Sunjata depicts these nuances wonderfully.

It’s like yelling into the void sometimes — so if you’re out there, holler back.
Comments, shares, and good vibes all keep this little ship afloat. Thanks for reading.
