Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham attacked by woman in Santa Monica, police says

Fleetwood Mac‘s Lindsey Buckingham was reportedly attacked by a woman in Santa Monica, according to local law enforcement.

Buckingham had just entered a building on his way to an appointment when the woman allegedly threw an unknown substance at him before running away. Police believe she had discovered the time and location of his appointment and she had been there waiting for his arrival.

Buckingham was not injured in the alleged incident. The suspect is reportedly someone known to Buckingham due to previous encounters. An arrest is expected soon.

Recently, Buckingham has seemingly hinted at a reunion with Stevie Nicks.

Last year, the legendary duo reissued their 1973 album ‘Buckingham Nicks’, making it publicly available for the first time since its original release.

Upon sharing the record, Nicks revealed that she and Buckingham are now back on talking terms, saying, “Lindsey and I started talking about [the album] last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us.”

Now, Buckingham may have dropped hints of a potential reunion. In a video shared to Instagram, the musician spoke about what he’s looking forward to in 2026 – including a solo album and the upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary.

Then, he says the following: “But I think on a more general level, just the energy of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale that seems to be something that’s in the air.

“And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet, but I believe with all my heart it will translate to something good and something wonderful and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”

Buckingham and Nicks, then romantic partners, joined Fleetwood Mac on New Year’s Eve 1974 after they’d performed in a duo called Buckingham Nicks. Both were mainstays in the line-up until 1987, when Buckingham left, before Nicks’ departure in 1990. They both rejoined in 1997, before Buckingham was fired in 2018.

After Buckingham’s firing in 2018, however, he told People that it was “all Stevie’s doing,” and that she “basically gave the band an ultimatum that either I had to go or she would go.”

For her part, Nicks denied the accusations in a statement, saying: “I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.”
