David Corenswet confirmed that the popular Superman movie Man of Tomorrow is getting a sequel, which is scheduled to release on July 9, 2027. This statement made from his Instagram account shook the DC fandom, instantly celebrating the event. It also spoke to how fast James Gunn was ready to jumpstart the new DC Universe just very shortly after the theatres release of Superman.

The actor shared an amazing, really dynamic artwork with a brief yet potent caption. The image shows an almighty Superman in his classical blue and red suit and red cape, raining punishment on a wicked-looking Lex Luthor clad in a green and purple high-tech armored suit. From the image alone, the spectator can imagine the grand proportions of the fight and setting that await in the next chapter.
A lot of fan responses all positive went in the comment area-in some even expressing a bit of glee. The speed at which the announcement came became a talking point, this-so soon after the release of the original. One user summed up the crowd reaction with: “BRUH NOT EVEN TWO MONTHS LATER😭 James is nonstop.” This comment started a cascade of responses praising Gunn for never stopping and dubbing him unstoppable. “THE GUNN NEVER JAMS‼️‼️” one of them claimed, and another added, “gun reloaded.”
Excitement was scarcely reserved for the director; many addressed David himself, celebrating his return as Superman. The comment section became a declaration of their anticipation, like “DAVID U CAN’T JUST DROP THIS ON ME,” while another one asked the fandom, “ARE WE ALL OKAY?? STILL BREATHING??” The answer was a roars of laughter, “NO,” while one person commented, “I AM NOT OKAY,” and another one said, “I’M ALIVE BUT I’M DEAD. I’M ALIVE BUT I’M DEAD.”
International representation wasn’t missed: A comment in Spanish read, translated, “I already have a reason to live until 2027, thank you.” Brazilian voice actor Diego Lima, who dubbed Corenswet’s Superman, also chimed in in Portuguese: “Me sinto pronto, amigo! ❤️🤍💙,” with his comment section drowned with comments from many proud Brazilians telling him “SOLTA A VOZ PORRA” (“Let your voice out, damn it!”) and praising his dubbing work.
On the other side of hype, some began raising questions, all for-giggles. One user took an extremely specific angle, with continued altar questioning of Superboy sighting (Kon-El): “Are we going to see Kon??? Can we please see Kon??? Will u let us see Kon? Will u yourself see Kon???? Will Kon be there??? How will Kon be there??? Will u like Kon being there??? ANSWER ME 😭😭😭” Another one jokingly jabbed at the Marvel side, tagging Marvel Studios for their shameful neglect, “James Gunn will have released 2 Superman movies and we still have @mahershalaali on ice for Blade 😭.”
Besides inciting jokes and excitement, many comments went on to express appreciation for what Corenswet and Gunn have started with the first film. One fan shared a rather lengthy response: “Thank you for this excellent portrayal of Superman. I didn’t know this ‘kindness is punk rock’ message would resonate and feel true to me but you embodied it & it spoke to me.” This emphasised their uniqueness and freshness that the audience clearly connected with.
