Chanel Takes Its Latest Métiers d’Art Show To Hangzhou, China
For its 2024 Métiers d’Art show, Chanel jetted to the Chinese city of Hangzhou, where staged its latest runway show at the city’s West Lake after dark. Inspired by vintage Coromandel screens in Coco Chanel’s Rue Cambon apartment, the collection emphasized intricate details—including sequined flowers, braided trim, glossy beading, and tonal Coromandel prints. Hues of white, black, blue, amber, jade green, dark red, and shimmering gold brought a distinctly autumnal energy to the line, which was seen by VIPs including Tilda Swinton and Leah Dou. The show marked Chanel’s second in China this year, following the November re-showing of its Cruise 2025 collection in Hong Kong. It also marks the brand’s latest show sans-creative director after Virginie Viard’s exit in June, though rumors are swirling of a successor being named this month.
