As the Harry Potter TV series continues production, and the controversy surrounding the new adaptation remains a topic of discussion, one of the actors in the previous film series enters the spotlight again. Jessie Cave, the performer known for portraying Lavender Brown in the movie franchise, announced earlier this year that she would start creating content on OnlyFans. Some were outraged and divided over Cave’s decision, but the actor did not flinch. Today, she’s still on OnlyFans, and though Harry Potter fans have other things to argue about nowadays, Cave has revealed that she has not been invited to a fan convention due to her association with a platform often linked to adult content.
As reported by Collider, Cave posted a message on her Substack, and explained why she wouldn’t be joining her co-stars at a fan convention. While she doesn’t create explicit content on OnlyFans, it seems that organizers are afraid this could result in backlash. Cave said the following in her post:
“I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans. They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.’ This was baffling to me, as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity. I’m just playing with my hair!
“I am not upset about the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions. There’s going to be a new cast now and it’s a different time. Plus, I have done conventions for over 15 years and have enough photos and wizard memorabilia.”
In March of this year, Cave announced she would join OnlyFans, but was very clear about the material she would create. At the time, she said, “My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof etc. My aim? To get out of debt. My aim? To empower myself? To prove to those in the past who have misjudged me that I’m not so sweet? To put time into something I never invested in before: self-love.” The actor has stayed true to her intentions, and doesn’t create the raunchy content that others share on the platform.
‘Harry Potter’ Had Never Been This Controversial

Today, everything regarding Harry Potter seems to be associated with some kind of controversy. From the TV series casting to creator J.K. Rowling’s incendiary views, the image of Harry Potter has been twisted beyond recognition. While fans have the right to refuse to watch any new adaptations, the original source material has also suffered from this controversy, and some won’t even read the young adult bestsellers.
The franchise about the young wizard is no longer only associated with innocence, childhood adventures, and imagination. It is now a dividing line between those who still hold it as a cultural landmark that has shaped the lives of millions, and those who see it as a source of income for Rowling, one of the wealthiest (and most vocal) people in the literary industry.
