From Model to Mother to Founder: How Sol Ji Built elune mode with Purpose and Perseverance

Elune mode, the slow fashion brand earning attention for its refined quality and understated aesthetic, was born not from a design studio or fashion conglomerate, but from one woman’s deeply personal journey of rediscovery.

Before she was the founder of elune mode, Sol was a fashion model in South Korea. As a teenager, she stood in front of the camera, immersed in the world of clothing and style. But her path soon shifted. At 21, she left Korea and moved to Australia. She didn’t speak a word of English. Within two years, she taught herself the language, passed university entrance exams, and enrolled in pharmacy school.

Sol became a pharmacist, started a family, and raised three children. Like many mothers, her career took a backseat. Over time, a quiet desire grew within her to do something more; to build a life that felt creative and fulfilling. She began to explore photography, interior design, and color. The photos on elune mode’s website today are her own. Clean lines, gentle skies, subtle palettes. The aesthetic she captured through her lens eventually took shape as wearable design.

Her interest in fashion reignited when she realized there were limited options for high-quality, elegant golf wear. Much of it felt too casual or lacked the sophistication she craved. She envisioned pieces that were both refined and versatile, suited to various occasions while maintaining a cohesive, minimal style.

This vision became the foundation of elune mode. More than a fashion label, it became Sol’s expression of thoughtful, sustainable living. She saw a gap between fast fashion and ultra-luxury and stepped into it with precision and care.

“I had no background in fashion design, but I learn fast and I work hard,” Sol says. “When I say I’m going to do something, I do it. I didn’t want to rely on someone else to bring my vision to life. I had to understand every part of the process.”

She went to textile markets herself, studied construction, sourced materials, and oversaw every design decision. At the same time, she continued raising her three children, including a set of twins. Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship remains her biggest challenge. But it is also her greatest motivation.

“My daughter tells me every day how proud she is of me,” Sol says. “I want to show my children that being a mom doesn’t mean your life is over. You can still dream. You can still create. You can still succeed.”

Sol began the manufacturing of elune mode in July 2024. Every piece in the collection is crafted with sustainability, longevity, and understated elegance in mind. The garments are produced in Korea, where experienced artisans hand-sew each item from start to finish. No production lines, no shortcuts. Custom dyed yarns, subtle contrast details, and high-quality thread ensure each piece fits beautifully and lasts for years.

The clothes are logo-free. Their power lies in their feel and fit, not in branding. Sol describes elune mode as quiet luxury for people who value quality over flash. The difference may not be immediately visible, but it becomes clear through how the garments wear and feel over time.

Beyond craftsmanship, elune mode reflects Sol’s desire to simplify wardrobes. Her long-term goal is to build a brand rooted in essential, versatile pieces; items that adapt to different occasions based on how they’re styled. She believes people don’t need excessive amounts of clothing to feel stylish and put together. Just the right pieces, made with care.

There is also a deeper mission at play. Sol hopes elune mode will serve as an example to other women, especially mothers, who feel like they’ve had to put their dreams on pause. “So many women give everything to their children and forget about themselves,” she says. “But I want to show my kids, especially my daughters, that you can turn something small into something real. You can make the impossible possible.”

Elune mode is still young, but its foundation is strong. Built from passion, integrity, and persistence, it carries the imprint of its founder in every thread. From the careful sourcing of fabrics to the soft lines of her photography, Sol’s story lives within the brand—and that story is only just beginning.
