Action movie superstar Gerard Butler must once again pick up a gun and face off with vile villains in one of his best action thrillers from 2023, which is now all set to land on Netflix. Butler remains a firm favorite among action fans and takes the lead in Plane, which finds the Olympus Has Fallen star less capable, but no more willing, than usual as he teams up with Luke Cage star Mike Colter as two men fighting not just for their lives, but the lives of the passengers after Butler’s pilot is forced to make an emergency landing in hostile territory.

Davis, Plane stars Gerard Butler, Mike Colter, Tony Goldwyn, and Yoson An and was met with rave reviews upon release, reaching heights of 94% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes alongside 79% from critics. “In the white-knuckle action movie PLANE, pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island — only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.”
A ‘Plane’ Sequel Is Now in the Works, but Will Gerard Butler Return?

Following the success of Plane, a sequel is now in the works. Though it’s unknown whether Gerard Butler will return. Instead, the follow-up, titled Ship, will follow Mike Colter as former GCP French Foreign Legionnaire Louis Gaspare as he continues to make his escape aboard a boat following the events of the first movie.
The Plane sequel was announced in 2023, with Ship swapping the sky for the sea as Colter returns as Louis Gaspare. Picking up not long after the events of Plane, the sequel will follow the legionnaire after “disappearing into the jungles of Jolo Island.” It is not yet known whether Gaspare will reunite with Butler’s pilot and former RAF officer Brodie Torrance, but the studio would surely be foolish not to get the popular action star back for at least a cameo. “Following a high-octane showdown with the local militia on Jolo’s shores, Gaspare manages to commandeer a fishing boat and escape the Philippines.
