Gorillaz’ ‘House Of Kong’ exhibition is heading to New York

Gorillaz have announced that their ‘House Of Kong’ exhibition is heading to New York for a limited run.

The immersive exhibition first launched in London last year and invites fans inside the fictional world of the band, exploring 25 years of Gorillaz history, artwork, music, characters and mythology.

Billed as a chance to “peek behind the curtain into the unseen world of Gorillaz”, the hour-long experience takes fans through the story of the band and their Kong Studios universe.

‘House Of Kong’ is now heading to the Big Apple, opening at the Agger Fish Building in Brooklyn Navy Yard on September 1 and running until September 28.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Tuesday (June 30), with prices starting from $50. Fans who purchased a Kong Card by June 25 will receive presale access from 10am on Monday (June 29). Find tickets and more information here.

The New York run follows last year’s original ‘House Of Kong’ exhibition at London’s Copper Box Arena, which launched as part of Gorillaz’ 25th anniversary celebrations.

The launch was accompanied by a series of live shows at the same venue, where Damon Albarn and co. performed the band’s self-titled debut, ‘Demon Days’ and ‘Plastic Beach’ in full, before debuting new material at a phone-free “mystery show”.

That material later became ‘The Mountain’, the band’s ninth studio album, which was released earlier this year through their own KONG label. The record featured contributions from SparksIDLESOmar SouleymanJohnny Marr and more, alongside posthumous appearances from previous Gorillaz collaborators including Bobby Womack, Dennis Hopper, Tony AllenProof and Mark E Smith.

In a four-star review of ‘The Mountain’, NME described it as “arguably their most rich and complete since ‘Plastic Beach’”, concluding: “‘The Mountain’ is an album that celebrates the love you leave behind, the people you touch, the spirit of giving more than you take, how we’re all the same when it’s done.”

Gorillaz recently played their first ever stadium gig at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, where they were joined by a long list of guests including Marr, Little SimzShaun RyderYasiin BeyBlack Thought and Gruff RhysA documentary about the show may well be on the way, after cameras were spotted filming at the gig.

Gorillaz will bring ‘The Mountain’ tour to Madison Square Garden on September 29, the day after the New York run of ‘House Of Kong’ closes. They are also heading to India for their first ever shows in the country in January 2027.
