Wynonna says The Judds’ tour will ‘go on’ with Faith Hill, more female country superstars

Wynonna Judd is keeping The Judds’ tour going after the sudden passing of her mom Naomi Judd – with a little help from some friends.

Wynonna announced to a live Ryman Auditorium crowd and a worldwide CMT audience Sunday that she was continuing the previously-scheduled 11-date nationwide tour being promoted for her and her now tragically deceased mother.

Naomi Judd, 76, died on April 30, just a day before The Judds — the iconic duo comprised of her and daughter Wynonna — was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…the show must go on, as hard as it may be,” Wynonna stated.

Her light will now shine alongside an impressive group of female country music superstars, including Brandi Carlile, Faith Hill, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Ashley McBryde and Trisha Yearwood.

Wynonna Judd and Brandi Carlile perform together at the Ryman Auditorium to honor the memory of Judd’s mother, Naomi Judd, during the A River of Time Celebration in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

“I am humbled, once again, by the loyalty of the fans who have been with us for 38+ years, who continue to show up for me when I need them the most. I am grateful that we will continue to honor The Judds legacy, together,” Wynonna shared. “It is pretty amazing – all of the people who have come forward to offer up their time and their gifts. I am feeling extra grateful.”

Larry Strickland, Naomi’s husband, adds, “I am so happy that in this time of grief for us all, Wynonna has agreed to move forward with this tour as my sweet wife Naomi would have wanted her to do.”

Martina McBride will kick off select nights with a full set of her material before Wynonna performs her hits and The Judds’ classics.

In an emotional farewell, Wynonna, left, and Naomi Judd accept their eighth consecutive CMA award during the 25th annual CMA Awards show at the Grand Ole Opry House Oct. 2, 1991. The Judds are breaking up as an act after a Dec. 4 concert in Murfreesboro because Naomi is retiring because of a lingering case of hepatitis.

Notably, the tour has added a twelfth and final stop on October 29 at Lexington, Kentucky’s Rupp Arena, where Faith Hill will join Wynonna to perform material from The Judds’ catalog.

Story continues

“What a full-circle moment it will be to end the tour in Kentucky where it all began. It means so much to have my sister-friend, Faith, join me for this musical celebration.”
