The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Ralph Ineson has revealed the unusual way that he prepared for his role as Galactus in the MCU. The actor found that getting into the headspace of the colossal cosmic devourer required him to think big. After all, the villain can change his size to appear as tall as a skyscraper or as big as a planet. Ineson told Empire Magazine that he went for a drive through the long and echoey tunnels of Mont Blanc, “just imagining that as his windpipe and his trachea,” but that wasn’t his only source of inspiration:
“I also went to a lot of tall buildings. We went to a wedding at the top of the Gherkin building in London, and I spent most of the afternoon just staring out, ruminating. I got in trouble with my wife — she was like, ‘You’ve got to say hello to the bride and groom at some point!'”

Ralph Ineson’s Best Role Proves He’s Perfect for Galactus
Thanks to Robert Eggers, horror fans already know Ralph Ineson is the perfect choice for one of Marvel’s best villains.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman made sure at least part of Ineson’s performance as Galactus, Destroyer of Worlds, was brought to life using practical effects, even though he acknowledges that he is “a humongous, 14-billion-year-old, planet-devouring cosmic vampire.” He certainly is a powerful and destructive entity, and one that threatens all life in the galaxy, but Ineson doesn’t view his character as the big bad other people might perceive him to be. “I don’t think Galactus is evil,” he said, adding, “He’s a god, of sorts.”
‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Promises a Comic-Accurate Galactus
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
Unlike 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which depicted Galactus as a faceless cosmic cloud, The Fantastic Four: First Steps looks to bring a more comic-accurate version of the formidable character to the big screen. The first trailer for the superhero feature revealed Marvel’s First Family’s new adversary, showcasing his iconic helmet, and his sheer scale, as the towering titan loomed large over the Statue of Liberty. With Ineson lending his voice to the immensely powerful villain, he will no doubt be a force to be reckoned with.
