Inside Summer Away, Where Travel and Mindful Fashion Meet

Summer Away began with a simple, all-too-relatable frustration. While packing for a trip, founder Meghna Goyal realized she had nothing she genuinely wanted to wear.

In New York, chic resort wear seemed everywhere, but returning to Mumbai revealed a stark gap. No brand was creating affordable pieces that married style with thoughtful, sustainable design. That realization became the seed for Summer Away, a label filled with what Meghna calls “versatile, timeless pieces that help you look good and do good.”

The brand’s energy draws equally from Mumbai and New York, two cities that have shaped Meghna’s life. Mumbai, where her roots lie, inspires vibrant colors, rich textures, and a deep connection to craftsmanship. New York, meanwhile, helped her hone her sense of style. Together, these cities inform Summer Away’s aesthetic–one that works just as seamlessly on a bustling city street as it does on a quiet getaway.

Travel serves as a constant source of inspiration for Meghna’s designs, from the way people move in their clothes to the subtle details that transform a simple outfit into something memorable. “On my recent trip to Paris, I was struck by the ease with which people dressed. There’s this understated elegance in the way a simple blouse, perfectly cut trousers, and a barely-there accessory can create a complete look,” she says. “That kind of effortless fashion, where the confidence comes from how you carry the clothes, is already shaping the mood for our next collection.”

Materials are at the heart of Summer Away, with natural fabrics like linen, viscose, and cotton forming the foundation of every piece. Runs are intentionally small to maintain quality and care. The brand is also launching a factory rescue category, giving pieces with minor imperfections a second life. “Instead of discarding them, we’ll offer them at special prices so nothing goes to waste. The idea is to make it easy for our customers to be part of this journey without having to think too hard about it. You’re contributing to something bigger just by shopping with us,” Meghna explains.

Building on this commitment to thoughtful production, Summer Away’s recent Fall collection translates care into design, drawing inspiration from the desert and its contrasts. Fluid, draped viscose meets structured silhouettes, while deep grounding tones of black, navy, and brown are lifted by soft pastels of green and pale blue, evoking the shifting light across the terrain. “The result is a collection that feels adaptable and timeless, designed to layer and mix with ease for the season ahead,” Meghna says.

The desert itself became a pivotal part of the campaign, embodying the collection’s interplay of softness and strength. “The desert felt like the perfect backdrop because it mirrors the duality we wanted to capture with this collection. The softness of the drapes is set against more defined structures,” she adds.

Looking ahead, Summer Away is carving out its place as a destination for travel-ready fashion. Accessories, beginning with shoes, are expanding, and the brand is extending globally through retail partners in Europe. Its mission remains to stay aspirational yet approachable, offering pieces that feel effortless but intentional no matter where they are worn.
