With Peacemaker Season 2 officially underway, series creator James Gunn has unveiled some unexpected behind-the-scenes details on the raunchy superhero series. The filmmaker has pulled the curtain on the show’s long-awaited return, revealing that a key member of the second season was recast during production.
While talking about the latest episode on the Peacemaker: The Official Podcast (via Comic Book Club), Gunn revealed that he had to recast Red St. Wild while filming Season 2. The character, an eagle hunter hired by A.R.G.U.S. to track down Eagly, is played by Michael Rooker. However, Gunn confirmed that another actor had actually been cast in the role, and it was only after shooting several scenes with the unnamed performer that they decided to call in Rooker.
“Last season, we talked a lot about how we recast Vigilante. Well, we recast the character of Red St. Wild. He was another actor, he was a very talented actor, great guy. It just didn’t work out for various reasons. And so after we had shot most of his scenes, I called up my friend Michael Rooker. I said, I want you to come in and maybe, you know, do this role for us. He said, how much money? I said, you’ll actually have to pay us. And he agreed to come in.”
More to come.
