Jamie Lee Curtis marked the four-year anniversary of her daughter Ruby and Ruby’s partner Kyn with an Instagram message Thursday. It was warm and full of Pride.
The post opened with “PROUD” in all-caps, paired with both the transgender Pride flag and rainbow Pride flag emojis. Curtis then offered a reflection on what four years really means to her. “I always equate four years as either high school or college,” she wrote, “and it always seemed like that amount of time was so so so long to me when I was in the middle of it but it feels like your four years have flown by in a nanosecond.”
She closed by sending love to the whole family, including a kiss to her “grand kittens” – Ruby and Kyn’s cats. It’s the kind of personal touch that makes the message feel like a note from a mom, not a statement from a celebrity.
Curtis has been a steady presence in Ruby’s corner. Ruby came out as a transgender woman in 2020. Curtis was quick to express her support, openly and publicly. Ruby was adopted by Curtis and her husband, comedian and filmmaker Christopher Guest. In interviews over the years, Curtis has shared her daughter’s story with genuine warmth, describing a family built on love and acceptance.
Thursday’s message fits right into that picture. It’s a family anniversary note, guided by the same warmth Curtis brings to most things. She leads with love and keeps it personal.
The timing also adds a little extra meaning. Pride Month begins in June, just days from now. The dual flags in the caption – the transgender flag and the rainbow – feel right at home in that spirit. Curtis didn’t point it out directly, but the symbolism speaks for itself.
Kyn has shown up in Curtis’s world before, mentioned in past posts. The couple has largely kept their relationship private, and Curtis has respected that. She’s still made a point of being present for the milestones.
Curtis put it well in the post. Four years is no small thing. That’s a full high school run. Or a college degree. It can feel endless from the inside, and somehow brief in hindsight.
At 67, Curtis remains one of Hollywood’s most active and celebrated figures. Her 2023 Academy Award win for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was her first Oscar – a long time coming for an actress with decades of beloved film and television work behind her. Beyond the screen, her willingness to share her family’s story has become just as much a part of her identity as any character she’s played.
Thursday’s message didn’t need to be elaborate to land. A few sincere words, a pair of Pride flags, and a shout-out to the grand kittens. For Curtis, that’s what being present looks like.
