‘Suits’ in 3 Minutes or Less

On the run from a drug deal gone bad, brilliant college dropout Mike Ross finds himself working with Harvey Specter, one of New York’s best lawyers.

When Suits: LA was originally announced, it was hinted that several major characters from the original series could be making a return in cameo roles, and possibly on a more permanent basis. For now, Hoffman’s return in Episode 12 is a one-off appearance, as his character turns up attending the same anger management sessions as Stuart (Josh McDermitt). Speaking about returning to the role, Hoffman said:

“How can it be a bad thing? How could you complain? You’re so lucky to have something like this happen. Many shows never get noticed, nor get what we had for 9 years. There are shows out there of really good quality that get canceled for whatever reason, that don’t get a first life, much less a second, like we did. [The resurgence] is like winning several lottery tickets.

[The storyline] made perfect sense, because you hear anger management, you’re like, “Oh, yeah, well, what else would he be doing?” It completely fit. I had said before that the actors on this show need to find their own space to find that chemistry and lightning in a bottle. If one’s so lucky, it’s a rare thing. So I was surprised that it was early that I got a call, but I’d always talked with Aaron [Korsh] about, “Oh, what if?” before Suits LA. Nothing materialized, but it was such a cool door that opened because one of the characters has anger issues, and then you bring in good old stable, Louis.”

Could ‘Suits’ Fans See More of Louis Litt in the Future?

NBC

Litt’s return is certainly one that fans will relish, especially considering his perfect appearance in an anger management session, but is this the last we see of the character that played a big part of the original series? Not if Hoffman gets his way. He said:

“We’re leaving it open. Look, selfishly, it would be great. I would love to.”

One thing that was made clear about Suits: LA is that the spinoff would not be reliant on old characters, but it has been making good use of some fan-pleasing returns, even if some have just been fleeting. Whether the balance is being struck correctly is something that maybe needs a little more time to be worked out, as reviews for the series have fallen a long way short of its predecessor. Currently, NBC has not ordered Season 2, but with Season 1 reaching a conclusion on May 18, the fate of the series could be known sooner rather than later.
