Liam Neeson is ready to get out on the road again in his latest action thriller: the ice road that is. Following up his 2021 chilly revenge action movie, Ice Road: Vengeance has brought Neeson’s Mike McCann back to cinemas with another round of high-jeopardy thrills, and MovieWeb has an exclusive clip from the film.
Four years on from his first outing as McCann, Neeson is back in the driving seat and taking on a whole new collection of bad guys in the sequel. As per the synopsis:
“Big rig ice road driver Mike McCann (Liam Neeson) travels to Nepal to scatter his late brother’s ashes on Mt. Everest. While on a packed tour bus traversing the deadly 12,000 ft. terrain of the infamous Road to the Sky, McCann and his mountain guide (Fan Bingbing) encounter a group of ruthless mercenaries and must fight to save not only themselves but the innocent passengers and a local village on the brink of destruction.”

Along with Neeson and Bingbing, Ice Road: Vengeance also stars Marcus Thomas, Mahesh Jadu, Michala Banas, Gracy O’Sullivan, and Rosie Traynor, among others. The film is directed and written by Jonathan Hensleigh, whose credentials include the first Ice Road movie, 2004’s The Punisher, and being executive producer on Gone in 60 Seconds, Con Air, and Armageddon.

Audiences Have Been Loving Neeson’s Icy Return

Like many of Liam Neeson’s action movies, there is a solid divide between how they are viewed by critics and audiences, but in the end, it is the latter that ultimately decides how successful a movie is. In the case of Ice Road: Vengeance, it seems that audiences have once again found something to love in Neeson’s brand of brutal action thriller. But it is not all about him.
While Neeson is Neeson, and by now has done enough of these movies to know exactly what he is doing, many early reviews have been laden with praise for his costar, Fan Bingbing. As one reviewer noted, “The character played by Fan Bingbing looks great, has explosive combat ability, and works really well with [Neeson]. It’s worth watching.”
Like many popular action movies, Ice Road: Vengeance seems to have stuck with the script to deliver another blistering thrill-ride led by Neeson as he heads towards the end of his action hero phase. Despite the actor’s admission that his age is making him think that his time in the genre is limited, fans will be hoping that he still has a few more left in the tank.
