The excitement that Loni Love felt over the induction of these two magnificent women into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was simply exuding. Elated and proud, her spirit led the comedian and television personality to post a special Instagram tribute to Queen Latifah and Danielle Brooks as they were being inducted as honorary members for 2025.

Love posted a photo with a strong red background overlayed with pictures of eight women, whose names are listed: political strategist Donna Brazile; athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Swin Cash; and entrepreneur Janice Bryant Howroyd, among others. The sorority’s emblem sits in the very center, looking elegant and proud. This composition completes a silhouetted cityscape, attesting to what this means to the sisterhood.
“Welcome Sorors to the Sisterhood!!!!!” shouted Loni Love as a barking shout-out to her “boo boos” Queen Latifah and Danielle Brooks. Then she really let the excitement hit the roof with the call of the sorority—”Ooooo-ooop!!!”—coupled with various Delta Sigma Theta signs.
The comment section immediately sent out ripples of excitement over that announcement. One honker hailed the admission of the “heavy hittas,” while another applauded them as “some powerful women.” A sister named UNITY offered a much more heartfelt comment about the deep joy she felt witnessing the exaltation of these powerful figures into the ranks.

There were so many accolades to Fawn Weaver’s induction-it’s “what a flex”-and cheers of “pure black girl magic” for her honor. Weaver is an esteemed historian and businesswoman with a passionately vested interest in beautifying African American history and is a sure favorite to help enrich the sorority’s legacy.
For those who witnessed it in the flesh, it was historic at last. A historic occasion of collective pride was claimed by the spirit that empowered the sisterhood throughout its existence at the 57th National Convention of Delta Sigma Theta.
Delta Sigma Theta, since its inception in 1913 at Howard University, has been pouring her sisterhood into service, scholarship, and community life. These are selected honorary members distinguished for living the ideals of the sorority to perfection and for giving great service to the community in their field; therefore, this year’s inductees share no exception. They are excelling in entertainment, sports, business, and activism.
From the cascade of comments emerged the fact that this was a celebration not only of the new members but of the lasting influence of the sorority. From political giants to cultural icons, the 2025 honorary class represents Black excellence in its very form.
