It is almost impossible to not know who Colleen Hoover is, considering that her name has been and continues to be all over the internet in connection to the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively lawsuit after the release of their movie, It Ends With Us, based on Hoover’s novel of the same name. Colleen Hover is arguably the most famous author on Booktok and Wattpad, feeding fans and avid readers with romance. Admired for her ability to bring captivating stories to paper, Hoover’s name has been connected to controversies, nonetheless.
However, it seems that, despite the It Ends With Us controversy, it didn’t end there for Colleen Hoover. She seemingly can’t be stopped, not even when one of the biggest lawsuits in Hollywood is connected to her name to some extent. The Booktok sensation certainly isn’t leaving the spotlight, as she has three other projects already in the starting blocks.
‘Regretting You’
October 24, 2025
Regretting You is based on Hoover’s 2019 novel of the same name, which garnered more recognition after the author’s success of It Ends With Us. The coming of age story will likely be Hoover’s next on-screen project seen by fans, since the release date for Regretting You is set for October 24, 2025. Directed by Josh Boone, who is known for his work on the heart-breaking romance movie The Fault In Our Stars starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, Hoover’s upcoming movie has some respectable names attached to it. McKenna Grace, who is known for her roles in Ghostbusters: Afterlife or Gifted, and Allison Williams, best known for her portrayal of Marnie in the HBO drama series Girls, will appear on-screen as the mother-daughter duo, Morgan (Williams) and Clara (Grace). The two will be joined by Dave Franco as Jonah and Mason Thames as Miller, the respective love interests of mother and daughter.
Williams and Grace, specifically, will clearly be at the center of the upcoming movie, since Regretting You primarily focuses on the difficult relationship between mother and daughter. Morgan Grant’s life changed at a young age, when she unexpectedly had her daughter and had to put her own dreams and aspirations on the back burner. Their rocky relationship becomes increasingly strained as Clara enters her teenage years. Finding a connection and overcoming the constant disagreements is already difficult enough, but when Clara’s father and Morgan’s husband, Chris, tragically passes away after being involved in an accident, a close mother-daughter relationship almost seems impossible. Hoover’s upcoming book-to-movie adaptation dives into the complex web of motherhood, navigates difficult conversations, and explores the path towards closeness between a mother and daughter.

‘Reminders of Him’
February 13, 2026
Colleen Hoover
First published in 2022, Hoover’s novel Reminders of Him will be turned into a movie as well. Since the book turned into a worldwide bestseller (and It Ends With Us was a box office success), Universal Pictures has obtained the movie rights, with Longlegs star Maika Monroe recently announced for the lead role. The story will be adapted by Hoover herself, together with Lauren Levine, and Reminders of Him will also be produced by the two through their own production company, Heartbones Entertainment, which was founded in 2023. Known for her work on Love at First Sight, Vanessa Caswill will direct Reminders of Him. The new Colleen Hoover adaptation will be released on Valentine’s Day, February 13, 2026.
While the rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet, fans have some pretty good suggestions:
Reminders of Him tells a heartbreaking story about motherhood and forgiveness, and that sometimes it only takes love to heal a heart. Kenna Rowan is a young mother who spent five years in prison for causing a tragic accident which killed her boyfriend, Scotty. When she is released and fighting to regain custody of her young daughter though, nothing seems to go her way. Everyone in town has turned their back on her, trying to keep Kenna from her daughter. The only one helping her is Scotty’s best friend, Ledger, but life turns even more difficult when romantic feelings grow.

Stephen King and Agatha Christie are some of the authors who are highly adored by filmmakers. Here are the rest.
‘Verity’
Release Date TBA
Hoover’s third book-to-movie adaptation will be based on her 2018 novel, Verity. Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights to the movie, and Michael Showalter, who is known from The Idea of You, is on board as the director. In addition, The Idea of You’s Anne Hathaway is a part of the Verity cast, stepping into the role of Verity Crawford, and she will be joined by Josh Hartnett as Jeremy Crawford and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh.
Verity is arguably very different compared to the author’s other books, since it dives into the psychological thriller genre and sets a much darker tone. Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer, but when a significant offer comes around, her life changes. Jeremy Crawford hires Lowen to ghostwrite a novel for his wife, Verity, who is a successful writer but unable to finish her project due to an accident which left her paralyzed. In order to properly do her job, Lowen moves in with the Crawfords, but after some time, she discovers Verity’s unsettling secrets.
Clearly, Colleen Hoover has quite an array of stories which are waiting to be adapted for the screen. With Regretting You, Reminders of Him, and Verity, the author has three big movies in line, and with such big names attached to them, not much can go wrong. Hopefully.
