Fans might have to wait a bit for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2, but after that, fans can expect to see a new season every year. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man debuted on Disney+ on Jan. 29, and while some might have been skeptical at first, the series quickly won audiences over with a unique animation style and excellent writing that captured the best elements of the character. With Season 1 wrapping up, fans likely prepared themselves for a long wait for Season 2, as there still is no word on when X-Men ’97 Season 2 will air. However, Marvel plans to make the wait much shorter than expected for subsequent seasons.
While speaking with Collider, Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, said they hope to have a new season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man every year. He did hint that it might be a bit of a wait for Season 2, as is the case with many streaming animated shows, but the turnaround between the following seasons shouldn’t be as long. When asked for clarification, Winderbaum said that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 aims for a post-winter 2026 release date. Winderbaum said:
“We will have a Spider-Man season every year if I have anything to say about it. What usually happens, as you know, in animation is that there’s a bigger gap between Season 1 and Season 2 than in subsequent seasons, and that’ll be similar in Friendly. We will have to wait a little bit more than a year for Season 2, but then after that, it should come out on an annual cadence, hopefully.”

Despite not having an after-credit scene, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ has plenty of twists setting up Season 2.
Part of the reason Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 3 might not have as long a gap as the one between Seasons 1 and 2 is because of how the animation process works. The first season was given the green light, but Marvel didn’t approve another batch of episodes immediately. Since it was renewed later, and animation is a long process, Season 2 began production at a later stage. However, since Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 3 was announced before the show premiered on Disney+, it will give it enough time to be ready exactly a year after the second season debuts.
This is a similar issue to the one that happened with Invincible. Prime Video only ordered Season 1 at first and waited until after the series debuted before renewing it. Due to the extensive animation process, fans waited two and a half years between Invincible Season 1 and Season 2. However, the later seasons were ordered and animated closer together, so Invincible is now on track for a yearly release schedule.
2026 Is a Big Year for Spider-Man and the MCU’s New York-Based Heroes

Aiming to release Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 in 2026 is exciting news and paints a picture of what Marvel has planned that year. It follows the news that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and The Punisher Special Presentation that will also debut on Disney+ in 2026. If Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 does indeed premiere in 2026, that will also be the same year as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4, making for two Marvel Studios Spider-Man projects in the same year. With Spider-Man 4 set for July 31, 2026, and Winderbaum suggesting there will be more than a year’s wait for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to return, this could suggest Season 2 could air in the fall or holiday season of 2026 to give it some space from the feature film.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 already looks to be an exciting chapter in the web-heads story. Not only did the Season 1 finale set up plenty of potential foes and twists for Spider-Man, but the series will also bring in Gwen Stacy and have her suit up as Spider-Gwen. There certainly are plenty of stories Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man can tell for the foreseeable future over multiple seasons. The idea of a television series airing new episodes every year used to be expected, but in an age of streaming where fans have wait two to three years for new seasons, it is nice to know that at least Spider-Man will be around.
