Frank Carter and Sex Pistols announce plans to play ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ in its entirety

Frank Carter and the Sex PistolsGlen Matlock, Paul Cook and Steve Jones have announced plans to play ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ in its entirety for two concerts.

Both acts will be performing together at London’s Bush Hall on August 13 and 14 in order to raise funds to preserve the venue.

Tickets for the gigs go on sale this Wednesday at 10am BST. Details of how to purchase tickets will be revealed in due course

Speaking about the shows, Cook said via a press release:  “We’re doing a benefit for Bush Hall with the famous Frank Carter. We’re going to be playing Pistols numbers cause they need support and they need the money. We thought it would be a great way to stop it going under. This is my local venue. I grew up in Shepherd’s Bush and I still live round here. It would be a real shame to see it disappear and we want to keep it going. So everyone get down to the gig!”

Matlock added: “Smaller music venues are the lifeblood of new music. It’s in these intimate spaces that raw talent gets a chance to shine, where bands can really connect with their audiences, and where the spirit of live music truly comes alive so we need to keep them going.”

Carter went on: “This has been a joy from start to finish. When the Sex Pistols call, you answer. I’m very excited to be a part of it.”

The double header comes after after the London venue in Shepherd’s Bush has come under threat in recent months, and earlier this year revealed that it needed to raise £42,000 through crowdfunding to prevent it from losing its music status. It saw a 24.5% decrease in live music bookings last year.

Promoter John Giddings said: “Without treasured music venues like Bush Hall, we wouldn’t have the festival headliners of today. Bush Hall is where artists cut their teeth and hone their craft. It’s essential that these venues continue to exist for the music industry to thrive and evolve. That’s non-negotiable. Thanks to the Sex Pistols and Frank Carter for stepping up – this gig will be one hell of a night.”

The iconic independent West London venue has hosted gigs over the last 23 years with the  likes of REM, Amy Winehouse, Florence & The Machine, Adele, The Killers and Nick Cave all performing. It was also the venue for Kings Of Leon’s first UK show in 2006.

Earlier this month, Jane’s Addiction opened their UK tour there.

Meanwhile, former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon who won’t be performing at either show, recently said that immigration has created “division and animosity” in the UK.
