Member of ‘Superman’ crew found dead near Atlanta set

A crew member working on the set of Warner Bros.’ Superman movie shoot near Atlanta was found dead on Wednesday (July 24) in an apparent suicide.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the female crew member’s body was discovered in her car after officers with the Fayetteville Police Department and paramedics were called to the film studio complex early that morning.

“Evidence collected revealed no suspicion of foul play, nor is the investigation connected to any ongoing studio projects,” a statement from a Fayetteville police officer read.

The outlet said representatives of DC Comics at Warner Bros could not be reached for direct comment.

The upcoming film, now simply titled Superman after it was initially named Superman: Legacy, sees  David Corenswet take on the titular role. The film is set to arrive in July 2025 and will mark the launch of a new version of the DC Universe.

Helmed by Guardians Of The Galaxy’s James Gunn – who is now the co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran – Superman will also star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois LaneNicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner and more.

In January last year, Peter Safran revealed more about the plot for Superman, telling reporters: “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned.”

The first look at Corenswet as Superman came in May when director James Gunn shared a picture on social media of the actor in costume. However, many fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the character’s new look.

In other news, The Boys star Jack Quaid has revealed that he auditioned for the film but “didn’t get very far” in the casting process.

Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Quaid said that he submitted a self-tape for the role, but didn’t hear anything back from the filmmakers.

“I didn’t get very far,” he said. “I put myself on tape and it went nowhere, and that’s fine. I’m totally cool with it.”
