TV On The Radio have joined Oasis, Linkin Park and Sum 41 in sharing a cryptic teaser of a potential announcement this week.
Fans are speculating that the Brooklyn band could be making a highly-awaited comeback, after they wiped all the posts on their Instagram account, before re-sharing a singular image.
The new post simply reads ‘TV ON THE RADIO’. The band also shared a link on their story that leads to an official website encouraging fans to enter their email address to “sign up”. You can check it out here.
It’s unclear what the announcement is, but fans in the comments are anticipating new music. “Are we back? Are there new things to come, because I have worn out all the previous albums to death! Whatever is coming, I’m in, guys!” one fan wrote. Another said “It’s like seeing the Bat Signal after years of silence,” while another added: “who cares about Oasis now” in reference to the Manchester band’s recently announced reunion.
The band haven’t released an album since 2014’s ‘Seeds‘, but frontman Tunde Adebimpe has delved into acting in the meantime.
Adebimpe recently played a supporting role in Twisters, starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones. In an interview promoting the film earlier this summer, he hinted that new music is on the way.
“I can say that I just wrapped up my own record. And that will be out … in the future,” he told Stereogum. “And you … I can say … you might have an opportunity to buy a ticket to something related to that, or something related to TV On The Radio … in a while.
NME gave ‘Seeds’ a four-star review at the time of its release, writing: “These songs conjure the same excitement as the seditious ‘Wolf Like Me’ did in 2006. TV On The Radio have returned from an uncertain period sounding remarkably fresh.”
