My Adventures With Superman Season 2 Already in the Works

It’s only been a couple of days since Adult Swim and Max premiered My Adventures With Superman, but there seems to be a lot of trust being placed on the animated series that centers on the adventures of Jack Quaid’s Clark Kent.

Using a similar animation style to the Japanese anime, My Adventures With Superman centers on Clark trying to establish himself as the hero of Metropolis while ultimately uncovering the mysteries behind his origins, while working as a reporter at The Daily Planet. Lois Lane, for her part, seeks to become the number one journalist with the help of photographer Jimmy Olsen, covering the stories she thinks matter the most.

As the romance between Lois and Clark blossoms, the cunning reporter gets closer to uncovering the truth behind the man she loves and thinks she knows so well, who’s in fact the symbol of hope for the town.

The cast of the series is completed by Alice Lee as Lois Lane, Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen, Kari Wahlgren as Ma Kent, Reid Scott as Pa Kent, Zehra, Jeannie Tirado as Lana Lang, Kiana Madeira as Supergirl, Michael Emerson as Brainiac, Darrell Brown as Perry White, Melanie Minichino as Cat Grant, Jason Marnocha as Jor-El, among many others.

Through his Twitter account, producer Jake Wyatt thanked the fans for the good reception of the show, confirming that the second season is already underway since two batches of episodes were originally ordered by Adult Swim:

Superman is Getting Into a New Era

Even though My Adventures With Superman is an adult series, the show’s approach to the character is very different from the recent versions that were looking for a mature tone. Within the Snyderverse, which sought to reflect the difficult sides of the world of superheroes, Henry Cavill offered a dark version of The Last Son of Krypton, something that was even reflected in the colors of the suit and the settings that surrounded him.

With Tyler Hoechlin’s version in the Arrowverse and later in Superman & Lois, The CW went back to the brighter colors and a more positive take on the character, presenting a more family-oriented story, exploring Clark’s side as a father and his vulnerability. But, even so, the aesthetics of the series continues to have many points in common with what was presented by Zack Snyder.

This approach will change radically with Superman: Legacy, the film that James Gunn is preparing for his new DCU, which seeks not only to win back Man of Steel fans, but also to attract new generations of followers for the comic book company’s greatest hero.

My Adventures With Superman also works as a great introduction to Kal-El’s mythology for a renewed audience, tapping into aspects of the character that had been lost or not shown since Cavill only had one solo movie to play the character and didn’t get to develop his personality that much.
