Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack intends to play in 2026, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Mack, who turned 35 in February, is set to become an unrestricted free agent next week. Last offseason, he signed a one-year, $18-million deal to return to the Chargers.
Los Angeles considers retaining Mack a priority and will attempt to re-sign him, Rapoport adds. The veteran pass-rusher only suited up in 12 contests last season due to an elbow injury but still posted 32 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles.
The Chargers currently have the fourth-most cap space at just under $85 million, according to Spotrac. Guard Zion Johnson, wide receiver Keenan Allen, and edge rusher Odafe Oweh are other key Chargers players set to hit the open market.
“They know we want them back,” Hortiz said of Mack and Oweh during the NFL combine in Indianapolis, according to team reporter Eric Smith. “I think when players go into free agency once the season ends, it takes a little bit of time, but we’ll keep chipping away at it and see if we can get something done with them.”
Mack has appeared in 62 games since joining the Chargers in 2022, racking up 60 quarterback hits and 36.5 sacks over four seasons.
