Scrat Tales Are Finally Unfrozen

It seems as if Disney is still not done with Ice Age. After Blue Sky Studios was purchased by the Mouse, audiences were blindsided by the announcement of the series spinoff The Adventures of Buck Wild. Now, The Ice Age continues, but this time in a series of shorts titled Ice Age: Scrat Tales. Disney+ has released a series of image stills to go along with the announcement.

According to a report from Animation Magazine, Ice Age: Scrat Tales will follow the scrappy saber-toothed squirrel as he finds himself becoming a dad! The series will comprise of six shorts that follow Scrat and Baby Scrat as they get in and out of trouble, as well as battling for Scrat’s beloved acorn. Produced by Anthony Nisi, and executive produced by Robert L. Baird and Andrew Millstein, the series will star Chris Wedge and Kari Walhgren as the voices of Scrat and Baby Scrat. Ice Age: Scrat Tales is expected to drop on April 13th on Disney+. Animation Magazine also gives us a list of episode titles and summaries!

One Small Step for Rodents…

When it comes to the now-closed Blue Sky Studios, Scrat has been there from the start. When the studio released their very first film, Ice Age, what did audiences see? A little saber-toothed squirrel looking for the perfect place to store his acorn. His ongoing shenanigans earned him the role of mascot for the studio.

Scrat’s adventures included running from a glacier, having a kung-fu style showdown with hungry fish, finding love, going on a treasure hunt, breaking apart the continents of Pangea, and even venturing into outer space! In every official feature film of the Ice Age franchise, Scrat was there and having his own adventure that paralleled that of the herd consisting of Sid, Manny, Diego and the others. In all of the movies, Scrat is voiced by director Chris Wedge, who will reprise the role once again for Ice Age: Scrat Tales. With Buck Wild and Scrat Tales, it seems as if these characters aren’t extinct just yet.
