Simon Pegg’s recent acquisition of honorary citizenship in Kefalonia quickly turned into a heartfelt advertisement of his relationship with the island. Now, not only an honorary citizen of Kefalonia, but also having co-produced with the tourism department, he has prepared a kind of mini-documentary on his annual holidays to the island parody. And in case a Greek trip proposal was not already on your mind, it surely will be after.

This video is packed with crazy stories, like DJ-ing all night in a bar called Captain’s Bar, horrendous jet ski rides with his long-time friend Tina, or Pegg dragging his wife Maureen to watch sunrise at 5 AM, a rather unappealing notion for her I reckon. Hence, the making of a love letter to the island, complete with stunning beach shots, local hangouts, and graphic pours of Pegg’s humor.
Comments were fast turned into the various other descriptions of the commenter’s own experiences in Kefalonia. Users recounted meeting Pegg at Captain’s Bar 18 years ago and said he was kind in person, just as one would wish. One jested that Pegg broke the promotion code by revealing the beauty of the island. Someone else demanded the actor to produce a full-blown travel show, and honestly, we’re down for it.
“Such a beautiful island,” Pegg kept on gushing, truly an honorary island citizen, but this left some commentators genuinely confused as to whether his honorary citizenship was real or just a joke. In a broader conversation, Pegg has often touched on issues of protest rights and corporate power, as seen in his discussions at events like Glastonbury, giving his fans another reason to admire him.
Aside from instantaneously turning those who had never been into people booking their flights, the post also began stirringly some wanderlust fever. Several other posts shared some other lovely little places scattered around the island, and one of them argued that it was the greatest Greek destination for his wife; so, Pegg is not alone there.
Things took a weird turn, with someone pointing out that the video linked was unplayable-and honestly, isn’t that the ultimate torment? But at least we got a glimpse at Pegg’s sunny, chaotic, and deeply heartfelt bond with Kefalonia; and if that were not enough, a reminder that even superstars need a hideaway of their own-well, one with good food, better friends, and some exhilarating and terrifying thrill activities.

In recent events, Pegg has shown off his fashion evolution during the “Mission: Impossible” press tour, showcasing his ability to captivate both on and off the screen. Anyone booking some flights here?
