It sounds like Joe Burrow will get his wish.
The Cincinnati Bengals have made significant progress on contract extensions with star receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, sources told Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The deals could be finalized in the coming days, Rapoport and Pelissero noted. The duo is expected to receive more than $70 million per year combined, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
Burrow, the star quarterback signed through the 2029 season, has repeatedly campaigned for the team to extend his top two weapons. A long-term deal for the star duo seemed unlikely at one point because of Cincinnati’s salary cap.
Chase – entering the last year of his rookie deal – could become the NFL’s highest-paid wideout after capturing a rare receiving triple crown with 127 receptions, 1,708 yards, and 17 touchdowns in 2024.
He received his first contract offer from the team at the NFL combine in February, according to Russini.
Higgins’ future has been a hot topic because the Bengals have tagged him in each of the past two years. The two-time 1,000-yard wideout requested a trade a year ago, but Cincy kept him and the 26-year-old posted a 73-911-10 stat line in only 12 games.
The Bengals missed the playoffs in 2024 despite having one of football’s top duos.
