Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is dealing with a significant AC joint sprain in his left shoulder and is considered week-to-week, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Surgery is possible, but the current plan is giving him rest and rehab that will limit him for the next several weeks, Rapoport adds.
The signal-caller got hurt in the second quarter of Jacksonville’s Week 9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He played through the injury and didn’t miss a snap.
Lawrence has only missed one game since being selected first overall in the 2021 draft. The Clemson product signed a five-year, $275-million contract extension this offseason and is 2-7 in nine starts this year.
Backup quarterback Mac Jones is slated to get his first start with the Jaguars on Sunday. The New England Patriots traded Jones to the Jaguars this offseason for a sixth-round pick after he spent three seasons in Foxborough. He was a first-round choice in the 2021 NFL Draft.
