At one point, Jared Fogle was a mainstay on television, frequently appearing in Subway commercials to promote how the restaurant’s sandwiches had helped him overcome obesity, inspiring millions of others for many years. That all changed in 2015 with Fogle was criminally charged for horrific crimes that have resulted in his incarceration. Detailing the former Subway sandwich pitchman’s rise and faill is the upcoming three-part docuseries Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster, which is coming to discovery+ and ID on March 6, 2023, at 9/8c. You can get a sneak peek by watching the official trailer below.
Jason Sarlanis, President of Turner Networks, ID & HLN, Linear and Streaming, says of the docuseries, “ID has always had a rich legacy of bringing incredible true-crime documentary series to the air. Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster is a powerful new entry to our ever-growing slate of premium limited event series. Jared masqueraded as a national hero while hiding a horrific side. We are so grateful to the women who, by courageously sharing their stories, are shining a light on this important issue that affects so many families across America.”
The docuseries, produced for ID and discovery+ by Double Act, features emotional interviews with Fogle’s partner’s Russell Taylor’s stepdaughters, Hannah and Christian, who had been victimized by Fogle and Taylor. Florida journalist Rochelle Herman also provides key insight throughout the series about the case, as she played a key role in exposing Fogle as a child predator, leading to his fall from grace and subsequent imprisonment. Herman, a single mother of two, had worked closely with the FBI to help build a case against the Subway pitchman, and disturbing recordings she has of Fogle are featured.

Jared Fogle Had Help from Russell Taylor
Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster will also detail how Fogle had help carrying out his crimes from Russell Taylor, the person he’d employed as the executive director of The Jared Foundation. The docuseries also explores the charges against Taylor, as well as his dark communications with Fogle and how that led to the raid of Fogle’s home resulting in some very disturbing discoveries. Fogle has since pleaded guilty to charges of child pornography and traveling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor; he was sentenced to serve no less than 15 years in federal prison, where he will reside until at least 2029.
All three parts of Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster will premiere back to back on Monday, March 6 at 9/8c on I. That same day, the series in full will be made available for streaming on the streaming platform discovery+.
