It’s swiftly looking more and more likely that Marvel Studios will be bringing a Daredevil reboot to Disney+, with a new report from Production Weekly, an industry magazine which reports on the production of new movies and television shows, revealing a listing titled “Daredevil reboot.” You can’t really make things much clearer than that. The report comes quickly following the likes of Daredevil, The Punisher and the rest of The Defenders moving from Netflix to the Disney streaming platform, and is the biggest clue so far of Marvel’s plans for The Man Without Fear.
Following the release of the much-maligned attempt at bringing the Marvel vigilante to live-action with Ben Affleck back in 2003, Daredevil was reboot in serial form for Netflix back in 2015. The Netflix series introduces Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil, a blind lawyer-by-day who fights crime as a masked vigilante by night. Using his heightened senses, which he gained after being blinded as a young boy, Matt Murdock fights crime at night on the streets of New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood as Daredevil and begins uncovering a conspiracy of the criminal underworld being led by Wilson Fisk.

Daredevil starred the likes of Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Bob Gunton, and Ayelet Zurer, gradually introducing other recognizable heroes and villains including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Élodie Yung as Electra, and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye. Daredevil was met with much acclaim from both critics and audiences alike, with the news of the show’s cancellation in 2018 met with a deafening groan of disappointment.
Charlie Cox Was Recently Brought into the MCU Thanks to a Cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home
Marvel Studios
Fans instantly began calling for Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil, to be brought back into the fray as soon as humanly possible, and thankfully Marvel Studios listened. The Daredevil star finally entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe courtesy of a cameo appearance in the recent, record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home, during which Peter Parker makes use of Matt Murdock’s legal skills after his secret identity is outed by the villainous Mysterio.
While Murdock does not suit up in the Spider-Man sequel, his appearance was the first indication that Marvel has big plans for Daredevil going forward, with this recent listing just the latest news that a standalone project for The Man Without Fear is now in active development. The word “reboot” is sure to have fans wondering what exactly the studio plans to do with the character, but fear not, as Charlie Cox himself recently explained how a reboot-esque approach could work.
“I don’t think it makes sense to pick up where we left off,” Cox explained regarding his Daredevil return. “A few years have passed. It’s Daredevil but it’s re-imagined, it’s slightly different. Do you know what I texted my friends when I found out this was all happening? ‘Born again’.”
Daredevil and the rest of the Netflix/Marvel shows, including Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and Luke Cage, are available now on Disney+.
