FX has dropped an official teaser for the upcoming 12th season of American Horror Story, titled Delicate. The 30-second clips shows women clad in latex with platinum wigs dancing to an eerie rendition of Rock-a-Bye Baby. We also get a first glimpse at three of the season’s stars: AHS veteran Emma Roberts, and newcomers Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian. Delicate is based off the novel Delicate Condition (which is scheduled for released in August) by Danielle Valentine, and has been described as a modern-day Rosemary’s Baby.
Ana Alcott, the protagonist in Valentine’s book is an indie actress desperate to conceive. While undergoing IVF treatments, Ana starts to believe that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to ensure that she never gets pregnant. The men in her life, including her husband, continue to be dismissive of her concerns. Motherhood is certainly a theme in the teaser, as visuals of a rocking bassinet, a bird’s nest, and an egg falling from a tree flash before our eyes. Towards the end of the clip, which you can watch below, Kardashian (wearing latex gloves and a platinum wig) is seen cradling a child.
The AHS: Delicate cast also includes Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Matt Czuchry, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Odessa A’zion, Billie Lourd, Julie White, Debra Monk, and Denis O’Hare, with Zachary Quinto set to make a cameo appearance. Halley Feiffer serves as the sole writer for AHS: Delicate. The season will be executive produced by series creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, Feiffer, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Scott Robertson.

Will Kim Kardashian Live Up to Expectations?

Kardashian’s participation in the series made headlines when it was announced in April. While some, like Patti LuPone, were not thrilled with the casting decision, other notable figures from the AHS universe have come out in her defense. In a recent interview, Quinto said:
“She was so lovely and warm and, really, I don’t think she needs my advice. She seemed really in her element, and I was really impressed by her spirit and her openness. I really look forward to seeing this season because I think she’s gonna do a wonderful job… I really look forward to seeing this season because I think she’s gonna do a wonderful job”.
Murphy also sang Kardashian’s praises, saying she was “among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world” and sharing that both he and Roberts were “excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture.” The series creator also said that a “terrifying role” was specifically created for the reality star and entrepreneur.
During an interview at the MET Gala red carpet, Kardashian said she had taken acting classes and spoke about appearing in AHS: Delicate. At the time, she had not begun filming:
“We start shooting my stuff at the end of the month, but production has already started and I’m so excited. It’s really fun to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new and grow. I’m so excited for the experience. I am, of course. It’s a challenge. I like to challenge myself.”
The premiere date for AHS: Delicate is currently unknown, but according to the teaser, it’s coming soon.
