Johnny Depp has been back on the small screen lately, but not for his televised defamation trial that has since concluded. At the end of the trial, a jury determined that Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard had defamed him. The decision essentially cleared Depp’s name as the majority of the public believes his side of the story, which is that he had not physically abused Heard as had been alleged.
With the trial over, fans are clamoring to see Depp in new roles. For now, Dior has been using Depp’s resurgence in popularity to advertise his Sauvage fragrance in ad spots on primetime television. Per TMZ, Dior resurrected an ad campaign featuring Depp with one ad playing during MasterChef on FOX during the 8-9 p.m. slot. The commercial had been shot years ago following Depp originally signing on with Dior in 2015, but it had not been airing in heavy rotation more recently.

There might be some increased promotion on television, but Dior has continuously stood by Depp all throughout his legal battle with Heard. While other companies like Warner Bros. and Disney had severed ties with Depp, Dior maintained its partnership with the actor and continued to sell his Sauvage men’s fragrance. Dior has garnered praise from Depp fans for standing by him, and TMZ reports that Sauvage sales have recently increased at Sephora and Ulta, making it one of the highest-selling fragrances for those brands’ online stores.

Johnny Depp has also not wasted much time in getting back in front of the fans to perform. He has been jamming out on stage in the UK with friend and fellow musician Jeff Beck. The pair also announced that they have recorded a new album together which they plan to release in July.
“I’m gonna take this opportunity and tell you I met this guy five years ago, and we’ve never stopped laughing since,” Beck said on stage when introducing Depp. “We actually made an album. I don’t know how it happened. It will be out in July.”
Depp has also spoken out in a statement released after the trial, explaining that he feels the jury decision has cleared his name and given him his life back.
“Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed.
All in the blink of an eye,” Depp said. “False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.”
He added, “And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled. From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.”
