Josh Brolin, the Hollywood star famous for playing Thanos in the MCU, Cable in Deadpool 2, and Gurney Halleck in the Dune movies, is pretty tired of conventions and the unreasonable questions by fans who are lucky enough to directly address the man who played Thanos.
Per a report by Cinema Blend, Brolin appeared as a guest on The Graham Norton Show during an episode where he shared the couch with Cher, Keira Knightley, and Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is no stranger to the world of comic book movies, having played Magneto in the X-Men prequels. So naturally, the conversation turned to the superhero genre. Brolin took the mic to address the behavior of some fans during conventions, some of whom use the golden opportunity to interact with movie stars and ask some truly cringey questions:
“Did you ever go to a Comic-Con? That’s tough. They’re fans. They are true fans, which is great. But then the fan will come up and very seriously say, ‘Did you ever realize, I’m sorry to bother you, but did you ever realize that if you had the power to kill half the universe, you probably also had the power to create twice the resources?’ Super smart! And then you’re like, ‘Next!'”

Josh Brolin is one of modern cinema’s finest actors with an impeccable career. Let’s see how Rotten Tomatoes ranks his best films.
Conventions and fan expos are already a part of popular culture. They work as gatherings for people who like the same stuff, and during the best conventions, they actually have the opportunity to meet their favorite stars. Fans can buy the most expensive photo op that will create an ever-lasting memory, plus they can actually use a few seconds of their life to interact with major movie stars.
So, if you’re one of them, why would you ask Josh Brolin something so irrelevant? Brolin is an actor, and he’s not in charge of deciding what Thanos does or does not, because he simply doesn’t write the character. Decades of comic book culture were thrown into the trash because you wanted to sound “super smart,” and you just ended up being a laughingstock, according to a huge Hollywood star.
Fans are an essential part of pop culture, but the one that asked Brolin about the MCU’s most useless insight should have been one of those exterminated by Thanos’ lethal finger snap. Just make sure that if you ever get to meet Brolin face-to-face during a comic convention, you ask a question that impresses him, or at least makes him laugh.
What’s Next for Josh Brolin?
Aside from telling fans what they don’t want to hear, Brolin has had a pretty busy line-up of recent projects. 2024 saw him returning as Gurney Halleck in Dune: Part Two, a role that proved why Halleck is one of the most beloved characters of the popular franchise. And while Brolin is preparing to put the suit back on for Dune: Messiah, he still keeps a fairly busy schedule.
In 2025, he will have a role in the new sequel to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise, Wake Up Dead Man. Brolin will also play a major part in the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man. The performer will star as Dan Killian, the TV producer in charge of the deadly game show. In 2026, Brolin will also star in the new film by Barbarian’s Zach Cregger, Weapons.
