Netflix’s Peaky Blinders Set Photos Reveal First Look at Tommy Shelby

The highly-anticipated Peaky Blinders film from Netflix is currently in production, and the first look at Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby has leaked online. Although fans of the hit television series know very well how the actor transforms himself for the role, brand-new set photos from the upcoming film also tease what his fan-favorite character will go through this time around. Peaky Blinders will follow up the six-season show with a movie sequel that will likely serve as the grand conclusion of the ultimate gang story of all time.

The gangster tends to find himself physically injured, a natural occurrence for the criminal mastermind, but it seems that the new film will find him in an unprecedented situation. Even though it’s unclear what the film will exactly be about, the final chapter in the Peaky Blinders saga is already looking as epic as it should be. Let’s just hope Tommy Shelby once again finds himself alive by the end of the film, although the odds aren’t looking good.

Netflix’s Peaky Blinders will be taking place during World War II, and serve as a continuation instead of a much-speculated sequel to the series. Directed by Steven Knight, the supporting cast for the movie includes Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg, Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby, Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Ian Peck as Curly, and Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs. Meanwhile, new cast members include Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), Rebecca Ferguson (Dune: Part Two), Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction), and Jay Lycurgo(Titans).

Netflix Starts Filming Peaky Blinders

To celebrate the start of production, Netflix officially posted images of Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight on the set of Peaky Blinders in late September. It seems the film is well on its way at this point, presumably concluding principal photography before the end of the year. The director previously confirmed the film’s setting at the RTS London Convention, teasing the all-star supporting cast that will be joining Cillian Murphy in the Netflix film.

“We’ve announced Rebecca Ferguson, we’ve announced Barry Keoghan, we’ve got some more announcements coming. It’s set in the Second World War and it’s really good.”

The creator and writer has also teased the “mindblowing” cast.

Although Tom Hardy teased his role in the Netflix production, his inclusion has not been confirmed at this point. Moreover, the streaming service has not confirmed when the film is set to release online. However, it is expected to bow out sometime next year. Netflix has kept plot details close to the chest, but they did reveal a small tease of what fans should expect in the final chapter of Tommy Shelby’s journey.

“The last time we saw Tommy Shelby in the Season 6 finale, he was riding off on a white horse, intent on starting a new life. What does the new movie hold in store for him? The plot is still very much under wraps, but Knight did tease that things are about to go boom — and we expect nothing less from the Shelby clan.”
