Despite HBO’s recent assurance of a third season in 2025, an unnamed Euphoria cast member expressed doubts about the show’s return. These comments come after the network announced a production delay. The actor spoke with the Daily Beast through direct messages and requested anonymity. They said:
“Since January of 2022, we have had a start date of March that turned into June, that turned into January. And then they kept pushing every month from then on. It was two full years of HBO telling all the actors we were getting back soon, so we couldn’t take some jobs.”

HBO’s statement revealing the delay also noted that the “in-demand” cast was allowed to take other projects. According to the actor, having that approval years ago would have given the cast more opportunities.
“Before last week I couldn’t take any TV jobs. Since they have put it on hiatus, I can now take any job. But what sucks is that we all had more momentum right when the show came out but now it’s been 2 years of waiting.”
Despite the confusion surrounding Euphoria’s future, the anonymous actor did say they were “looking forward to returning” to the series if a third season came to fruition:
“Because I’m an actor I will always be excited about any acting work so yes I am looking forward to returning. I just don’t think it will happen.”
Regarding the actor’s doubts about Euphoria’s anticipated third season, creator Sam Levinson’s team told the outlet:
“HBO has answered all those speculative questions and assured everyone of a third season as originally planned in 2025.”
Euphoria’s Season Three Will Feature a Time Jump
HBO
During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in January, Jacob Elordi, who stars as Nate Roberts, joked about the time-lapse between filming (season two premiered in 2022). Elordi shared that he hoped filming would commence soon, or they’d have to “Benjamin Button [him] or something.” Now, it seems likely that Elordi won’t need the Benjamin Button treatment after all.
According to a recent report, the show is expected to move past high school and into adulthood in its third season. There are several reasons for this decision: this shift could make the show’s exploration of sex and drugs feel less controversial, considering the cast will no longer be portraying teenagers — additionally, the unexpected death of co-star Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, might have required changes to the show’s original plan.

“I actually like it because there’s so much room for growth for both me as a person and also Cassie as a character,” Sweeney said.
