Peacock’s Ted Prequel Series Wraps Production

Ted, the foul-mouthed teddy bear, is set to return as a TV series on Peacock.

Fans of Seth MacFarlane’s 2012 film Ted have something to keep an eye out for. The movie was a success, and now MacFarlane is gearing up to release a prequel series based on the character.

The series is set in Boston in 1993 and revolves around a young John Bennett and his friend, Ted. The show will follow the two as they navigate their way through adolescence. While the movies were more focused on the adult John Bennett and his relationship with Ted, the series will be more light-hearted and will focus on the friendship between the two characters. MacFarlane has said that he wants the series to capture the feeling of growing up in the 1990s, and it will be interesting to see how he pulls it off. As expected, the prequel series will not feature Mark Wahlberg or Mila Kunis.

According to MacFarlane’s Instagram post, the new series has recently finished production. In the post, MacFarlane showed a picture of Ted viewed through one of the monitors and stated that principal photography on the show had concluded. He then thanked the cast, which included Scott Grimes (American Dad!), Alanna Ubach (Euphoria), Giorgia Whigham (Netflix’s Punisher), and Max Burkholder (Parenthood) calling them “brilliant.” Burkholder will play John Bennett.

Seth MacFarlane Will Voice Ted in Prequel Series

Universal Pictures

A live-action Ted prequel TV show was first said to be in development at Peacock in mid-2021. NBCUniversal Entertainment Content chairman Susan Rovner pitched the idea of bringing Ted back to life during an introductory call the former Warner Bros as per The Hollywood Reporter. Ted will be voiced by Seth MacFarlane, who will also direct, co-write, co-showrun, and co-executive produce the entire project. MacFarlane is the mastermind behind the hit TV show Family Guy and movies like Ted and Ted 2. Now, He is set to bring his signature humor back to the screens with a new prequel series based on his Ted films. The series is expected to air sometime next year. Paul Korrigan and Brad Walsh, who also co-wrote the show, are co-showrunners.

All in all, it sounds like the Ted prequel series is going to be a fun ride that fans of the films will enjoy. It will be interesting to see how the series differs from the films, and what new elements it brings to the franchise. With any luck, it will be a successful addition to the Ted universe.

The series will have 10 episodes and will air on Peacock, but the release date is yet to be announced.
