One Small Step for Rodents…
When it comes to the now-closed Blue Sky Studios, Scrat has been there from the start. When the studio released their very first film, Ice Age, what did audiences see? A little saber-toothed squirrel looking for the perfect place to store his acorn. His ongoing shenanigans earned him the role of mascot for the studio.
Scrat’s adventures included running from a glacier, having a kung-fu style showdown with hungry fish, finding love, going on a treasure hunt, breaking apart the continents of Pangea, and even venturing into outer space! In every official feature film of the Ice Age franchise, Scrat was there and having his own adventure that paralleled that of the herd consisting of Sid, Manny, Diego and the others. In all of the movies, Scrat is voiced by director Chris Wedge, who will reprise the role once again for Ice Age: Scrat Tales. With Buck Wild and Scrat Tales, it seems as if these characters aren’t extinct just yet.
