The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito has teased a few changes to Moff Gideon and his quest for power and revenge in the final moments of the third season. The villain has so far been missing from The Mandalorian Season 3, until recently that is, with Esposito revealing to ScreenRant that we will soon see a new side of the fallen leader.
“Well, the Imperials want something. Of course, they want to try to be together, but they don’t all agree. Moff Gideon has an idea that they need to be armed up and ready, because there are insurgents out there, and they are coming. He is a leader of sorts that has to try to figure [things] out. You’ve seen him be strong-armed before, but I think you’ll have an opportunity to see him be democratic, and to ask questions like, “Well, why not?” He’s powerful in that way, and he sways people and controls the chaos in a very brilliant way.”
After being defeated and taken into custody during the finale of The Mandalorian Season 2, there have been whispers throughout the third season of what Moff Gideon has been up to since. Namely, escaping and plotting his return to power.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Has Been Met with a Mixed Response
Disney Platform Distribution
Picking up around five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, the journey of the Mandalorian continues in The Mandalorian Season 3, which finds the once lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin, reuniting with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together, traveling to Mandalore to redeem his past transgressions and being aided on their journey by fellow Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze.
The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal once again leads the way as the titular bounty hunter, alongside Grogu aka Baby Yoda. The Mandalorian Season 3 sees the return of several allies and enemies, including Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, and Emily Swallow as “The Armorer.” The third outing has also added several big names to the roster, including Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd, The Super Mario Bros. Movie star Jack Black, and the rapper and singer Lizzo.
But, far from making audiences clap, these cameos have been met with much criticism from some fans, who now feel that The Mandalorian has lost its way. While the first two seasons of the show were hailed as a return to form for the Star Wars franchise, the response to the third adventure has been a lot more mixed so far.
The Mandalorian Season 3 will come to an end with Chapter 24 on April 19, 2023 on Disney+. A fourth season is now in development, with a movie now planned to culminate the entire Mando-Verse.
