Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan’s new series for Paramount+, Landman, has released its first images and series details. The modern western drama will premiere on Sunday, November 17 with two episodes on the streaming service, with 10 episodes in total, released on subsequent Sundays. Based on the podcast Boomtown by Christian Wallace, the series is set in West Texas and stars Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Demi Moore, and Jon Hamm.
According to an exclusive story by Vanity Fair, who first published the images, Thornton plays Tommy Norris, “an oil industry crisis manager who solves all manner of life-or-death problems in the unforgiving desert scrubland of west Texas.” Ali Larter plays Angela, Tommy’s ex, and both Jon Hamm and Demi Moore star in recurring roles as oil baron Monty Miller and his wife Cami, respectively.
Paramount described the series as “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.” Andy Garcia (The Untouchables) and Michael Pena (Marvel’s Ant-Man) will appear as guest stars, and additional cast members include James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville), Rylie Rodriguez (Play Pretend), Dani Raen (Project Black Sheep), Jacob Lofland (Joker 2), Colm Feore (Chicago), Michelle Randolph (1923), and Kayla Wallace (When Calls the Heart). Demi Moore, who is making a rare appearance on television, shared images from the series of her character on her Instagram:
The first images were also shared by the show’s cast on social media. They showcase the opulence of the lives of the wealthy oil barons with the grounded existence of those who work the oil fields. The series was filmed both in West Texas and in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex in North Texas.

Landman and the Taylor Sheridan TV Universe
Landman is just the latest offering from the rather prolific Sheridan, whose deal to feature his series on Pramount+ has paid off hugely for the streamer in a highly competitive market. His shows are some of the top draws on the platform, and have brought in Hollywood’s biggest names. They include the Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 (with Tim McGraw and Sam Elliott) and 1923 (with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren). His other shows for the streamer include Tulsa King (with Sylvester Stallone), Mayor of Kingstown (with Jeremy Renner), Lawmen: Bass Reeves (with David Oyelowo), and Lioness (with Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman).
Paramount is hoping the premiere of Landman will soften the blow of the final episodes of Yellowstone, which will begin airing in November as well on the Paramount Network, the studio’s cable channel. That series is having its own struggles, with the departure of lead Kevin Costner. There is hope within Paramount that Yellowstone fans will migrate to Landman.
