Millie Bobby Brown Shares ‘Deep-Rooted Fear’ Ahead of Filming Stranger Things

The final installment of Stranger Things is scheduled to film in 2023, but a recent nightmare is leaving Millie Bobby Brown with some fear about returning to the series. Brown currently stars as the titular character in Netflix’s Enola Holmes 2, as the younger sister of iconic detective Sherlock Holmes, who is following in his footsteps. In the film, which premiered Friday, Brown often breaks the fourth wall and talks directly to the camera to update audiences about case details. Today reports that during a Q&A with the cast during the film’s New York premiere, Brown said:

“While filming, I had a dream that I was on the set of ‘Stranger Things,’ and I couldn’t stop looking at the camera. And now, I have this deep-rooted fear that now I will never stop looking at the camera. So now, I’m so obsessed with it.”

Brown has starred in Stranger Things as Eleven since its first season. It launched the young actress’ career, and she has earned multiple individual accolades for her portrayal, including two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Along with the cast, she won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Brown began working on Stranger Things at just 12, and she is now 18. Upon its season five return, Stranger Things is expected to include a time jump, given the age difference of its young cast since its premiere season. In a previous interview, Brown addressed saying goodbye to Eleven:

“It has been a huge part of my life, and it will be sad for the most part, but there is an inkling of me being able to finally let go of her, and being able to free up some of my schedule to be able to tell some stories of my own.”

Enola Holmes premiered in 2020 and followed the young protagonist as she attempted to locate her mother. The sequel follows Enola as she continues to follow in her brother’s footsteps, and this time around, she opens up her detective agency. Things don’t seem to go as smoothly as Enola anticipated, and when she’s just about ready to give up, she gets her first job, searching for a missing girl.

Just like the original, the sequel is written by Jack Thorne and directed by Harry Bradbeer. The films are based on Nancy Springer’s series of the same name.

Enola Holmes 2 stars Brown as the titular character, Henry Cavill as her brother Sherlock Holmes, and Helena Bonham Carter as the siblings’ mother, Eudoria Holmes. Other cast includes Louis Partridge, Susie Wokoma, Adeel Akhtar, David Thewlis and Sharon Duncan-Brewster.

All four seasons of Stranger Things and Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2 are available to stream on Netflix. Along with the conclusion of Stranger Things, Brown will next appear in Damsel and The Electric State.
