The show is trending after two new 20-episode seasons were ordered.

Get ready for more Phineas and Ferb. Originally debuting as a TV series in 2008, the hit cartoon show ran for four seasons before concluding its run on Disney Channel in 2015. In 2020, the titular duo returned for a Disney+ movie continuation dubbed Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. Now, via THR, it’s been revealed that two new 20-episode seasons of Phineas and Ferb have been ordered for Disney Channel after co-creator Dan Povenmire signed a new overall deal with Disney Branded Television; the deal also includes a second season of his new series Hamster & Gretel.

Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said in a statement, “Dan is renowned for his ability to create universally beloved stories and characters with both heart and humor. We couldn’t be happier to continue our collaboration with him and bring back the iconic Phineas and Ferb in a big way.”

“Dan is a true mastermind, and his brilliant brand of storytelling has always been infused with a kind-spirited and optimistic sense of humor which continues to strike a perfect chord with audiences the world over,” adds the company’s executive vp of animation, Meredith Roberts. “On behalf of everyone at Disney Television Animation, we’re so pleased to continue our association with Dan and his inspiring creative team ― visionary producers, writers, animators, song composers and directors who have entertained and connected with generations of viewers.”

Phineas and Ferb follows Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher, as they embark on grand new projects to pursue in every episode. The series, created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, was a tremendous hit for Disney, spawning a franchise that has since seen crossovers with Marvel and Star Wars and even Primetime Emmy Award wins. Povenmire, who will be back to provide the voice of Dr. Heinz Doofenschmirtz in the revival, said in his own statement how he hopes that today’s younger generation will respond just as well to new episodes of Phineas and Ferb has they had during the show’s previous run on Disney Channel.

“It has been the greatest pleasure of my career to see how an entire generation of kids and parents have embraced the characters and the humor of Phineas and Ferb,” said Povenmire. “I’m eagerly looking forward to diving back into the show for them and for a whole new generation.”

Fans have been expressing great excitement for the show’s return. As one fan says, “‘m so happy that somehow Phineas and Ferb is still going strong. So many old TV shows have been cancelled I’m glad one is still around.”

Referring to the report as the “best news in the entire world,” reporter Palmer Haasch also noted, “I rewatched all of Phineas and Ferb in 2020 when Candace Against the Universe came out, and was struck by how thoughtful, witty, and extremely funny it was still a decade after I had watched it as a kid. Normally I’d be a more skeptical of a reboot, but I have a lot of faith!!!”

A premiere date hasn’t yet been set for the Phineas and Ferb revival. You can stream past episodes on Disney+, and you can see some more fan reactions below.
