Kim Kardashian Breaks Silence on American Horror Story Casting; Says ‘Of Course’ She’s Had Acting Lessons.

The announcement that Kim Kardashian will be joining the cast of American Horror Story’s 12th season received a mixed reaction from both fans and former stars of the series. From Patti LuPone’s unenthusiastic reaction to Kardashian’s involvement in the show, to Lily Rabe’s passive note that “Kim is amazing” but as she doesn’t know her she didn’t really want to comment, the inclusion of the reality TV star has certainly got people talking about the latest season of the long-running horror series. Now she has spoken for the first time about her upcoming lead role, and made it clear that she has been doing plenty of prep.

American Horror Story has featured some big name guest stars over the years, including Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, Stevie Nicks and Patti LaBelle. For that reason it is perhaps not surprising for someone like Kim Kardashian to have made her way into the series, despite her previous acting experience being of concern for some. While speaking to Variety at the Met Gala, Kardashian revealed that she has been taking acting lessons ahead of filming. She said:

“We start shooting my stuff at the end of the month, but production has already started and I’m so excited. It’s really fun to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new and grow. I’m so excited for the experience. I am, of course. It’s a challenge. I like to challenge myself.”

Kardashian isn’t the only star joining some series regulars for this new round of dark storytelling. Others recently announced to be part of the season 12 cast are Emma Roberts, Cara Delevingne, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, and Matt Czuchry.

As an anthology series, American Horror Story has always been able to reinvent itself and prevent its appeal going stale. Unlike many continuing dramas, although the show frequently features the same core cast of actors, they are usually playing completely new characters with an occasional crossover along the way. When discussing the new season and Kardashian’s involvement, series creator Ryan Murphy previously said:

“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family. Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”

According to reports, this season will be subtitled ‘Delicate’, and is believed to be based on an upcoming novel, Delicate Condition, which tells the story of “a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens.” It certainly sounds like the kind of plotline that the dark and often disturbing series would tackle. All will be revealed when the show returns this fall.
