BIA covered herself in butterflies in the name of fashion at the 2023 BET Awards on June 25. The rapper emerged completely bedazzled on the red carpet in a naked dress composed entirely of rhinestone butterfly decals arranged in an intricate cutout design.
Even more dazzling up close, the outfit featured butterflies of varying sizes displayed across her left shoulder and down her midriff. The shimmering design hugged her waist before fluttering out into asymmetrical tassels along the dress’s hem. As she moved down the red carpet, the ends of the figure-hugging ensemble swayed around her legs, giving the dress a whimsical flourish.
Each carefully placed layer also featured pink, black, silver, white, and lilac gemstones that, intentionally or not, beautifully evoked the “Barbiecore” aesthetic. Adding another Barbie-inspired touch to the look, BIA styled the outfit with a set of “Barbie-foot” heels with clear straps and a set of crisscross ties around each ankle. Keeping with the theme, the heels also featured bedazzled detailing around the base of each shoe. On her hands, BIA added even more sparkle with an extra-long rhinestone manicure.
Other celebrities who embraced the naked dress trend at the award show included Ice Spice, Ari Fletcher, Latto, Jess Hilarious, and more. As summer heats up, celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Ciara, and Kim Kardashian have also hopped on the trend — a sign that the naked dress isn’t going out of style anytime soon.
