If you told movie audiences 10 years ago that their favorite Disney characters would be turned into serial killers, people would have laughed and dismissed the idea. But after the success of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, yet another classic children’s tale has been added to the terrifying Poohniverse: Monster Assemble lineup. The new horror universe is gaining members of Disney animated movies left and right, and now a certain lost boy will be joining the Avengers-level threat. Creators of the Poohniverse, Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios have released a new trailer for Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare as it gears up for its limited theatrical release next month.
Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare will follow Wendy Darling as she attempts to save her brother Michael from a fate in Neverland with an evil Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. The twisted horror film will be in theaters for three days only, from January 13, 2025 until January 15, 2025, by Iconic Events Releasing. The newest installment in the “Poohniverse” is directed by Scott Jeffery and stars Megan Placito and Martin Portlock.
Jeffery spoke to Bloody Disgusting about the “most vicious” addition to the “Poohniverse.”
“This is tonally an extremely darker film to Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey. When dealing with children being abducted, it felt right. All of the films from our Poohniverse will feel different from the last. So, if one isn’t for you, then maybe the next will be. Peter Pan is the most vicious of them all. He is twisted, cruel and cunning.”
The film’s tagline reads: “He’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” which will be sure to terrify kids and parents alike. Check out the trailer for Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare below.
The Poohniverse is Expanding Rapidly
The fact that there is an Avengers parody made up of demonized versions of classic Disney characters is wild within itself, but each new addition adds to the absurdity that is the “Poohniverse.” A certain scorned deer and wooden boy are already set to join the team alongside the evil imaginations of the Hundred Acre Woods crew in 2025.
Bambi: The Reckoning will see the cute, mother-less deer turned into a hunting machine. Set to be released later in 2025, Pinocchio: Unstrung will follow the famous wooden boy as he dons the skin of his victims, providing lots of practical gore for horror fans. With all three upcoming additions to the “Poohniverse” set to release in 2025, the group of killers is expanding at an alarming rate. Their upcoming team-up is getting scarier by the second.
While there is also an upcoming sequel to the movie that started it all, audiences will have to wait to see if the group can hold up to the success of the pooh bear’s film. With all the new additions, the group of twisted Disney characters looks like a true, Avengers-level threat.
Beginning December 18, 2024, tickets for Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare can be purchased online at Iconic Events Releasing or at a participating theater’s box office.
