Kim Kardashian Opens SKIMS On 5th Avenue!
Fifth Avenue has a fab new addition: SKIMS! Last night, Kim Kardashian opened the brand’s first New York City flagship store at 647 5th Avenue. Attendees were greeted by live SKIMS models next to a massive body sculpture by Vanessa Beecroft as crowds packed the sidewalks outside. Within the boutique, four beige floors displayed the brand’s women’s and men’s shapewear, underwear, sleepwear, and loungewear—including a special room dedicated to its collaborations with The North Face and Dolce & Gabbana. Highlights included a SKIMS photo booth and miniature desserts aligned in ombré rows of neutral nudes, from stark white to dark chocolate brown. The guest list—many outfitted in their own SKIMS looks—was equally fashion-forward, including Cardi B, Paris Hilton, Ice Spice, Ciara, Ashley Graham, Teyana Taylor, Kelsea Ballerini, Winnie Harlow, Coco Jones, The Kid LAROI, Tate Mcrae, Meghan Trainor, La La Anthony, Nia Long, Adrienne Bailon, Stephanie Shepherd, Suni Lee, Gayle King, Peter Dundas, Emma Grede, Alastair Mckimm, Dijonai Carrington, Anna Weyant, June Ambrose, Kristen Noel Crawley, Tinx, Phoebe Gates, Remi Bader, and more.

Fashion Reacts to Matthieu Blazy’s New Chanel Appointment!
As we know you’ve heard by now, Matthieu Blazy has been named Chanel’s artistic director of fashion activities—in other words, its next creative director. After rumors swirled off who’d succeed former creative director Virginie Viard after her abrupt exit in June, Blazy emerged as the winner of the coveted job on Thursday. The news was the cherry on top of a whirlwind day, which began with news of Louise Trotter’s exit from Carven, her subsequent appointment as Bottega Veneta’s creative director, and Blazy’s exit from the latter. In the day since, all levels of the industry have reacted to Blazy’s appointment with a positive attitude. On the label’s post on Instagram, Hamish Bowles deemed Blazy a “brilliant and fascinating choice” for the job, while cries of “Bravo” and “perfect choice” hailed from Harris Reed, Inez and Vinoodh, Bryanboy, and Anna Dello Russo. Hanan Besovic, Luke Meagher, and more digital creators also shared videos noting Blazy’s focus on craftsmanship over commercialism as a plus for the house. Amy Odell dedicated today’s Back Row Substack to the news—though noting the lengthy title is equivalent to creative director. In the interim, everyone waits with baited breath for October 2025, when Blazy’s first Chanel collection will hit the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

Lucien Pagès Communication Is Acquired By The Independents
Lucien Pagès Communication has officially been acquired by The Independents! The agency founded by communications star Lucien Pagès is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio—which includes Karla Otto, Lefty, Bureau Betak, Atelier Lum, Inca Productions, Sunshine, Atelier Athem, Kennedy, Bureau Béatrice, and Kitten—according to Vogue Business. Pagès will continue to lead his agency, which he established in Paris in 2006, and its star-packed roster—which includes Loewe, Schiaparelli, Victoria Beckham, Jacquemus, Coperni, Sacai, Courrèges, Byredo, Carven, Erdem, and more. Fashion Brand Rhode Closes After 10 Years In Business
Rhode is the latest fashion label to close its doors in 2024. The womenswear brand announced its permanent shuttering on Thursday, breaking the news in a statement by co-founders Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers on Instagram. Though no reason has been cited for Rhode’s end, Khatau and Vickers stated that “new and exciting dreams” are on the horizon. In the meantime, fashion fans can buy discounted collections on ShopRhode.com. Rhode’s news marks the latest news of brands closing in 2024, following closures by Interior, The Vampire’s Wife, Mara Hoffman, and Dion Lee.
