The Flash Season 7 Casts Jordan Fisher as Bart Allen

There is about to be a new Flash in Central City. The CW has added actor Jordan Fisher to the cast of The Flash season 7. The actor is set to take on the role of Bart Allen, the son of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen. Bart possesses the same powers as his father, which means we are likely going to have a new speedster on our hands when Fisher makes his debut later this season.

According to multiple reports, Jordan Fisher will play Bart Allen in The Flash. The character, created by Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo, first appeared in the pages of DC Comics in 1994. He was going under the superhero alias Impulse, but later took up the mantle of the Flash, becoming the fourth character to do so. Jay Garrick and Wally West also held the title. Fisher, known for his stage work as well as Netflix’s To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, will make his debut in The Flash season 7 episode 17. It will be the 150th for The CW series overall. The network describes the character as follows.

“Bart is the fastest teenager on the planet, but due to Bart’s penchant for wildly impulsive behavior, stunned parents Barry and Iris will have their hands full trying to teach their new son patience. But it’s a task they’ll have to accomplish, in order for their family to work together and stop Team Flash’s biggest threat yet.”

The Flash is the longest-running ArrowVerse show on The CW currently. The network has already renewed the show for season 8. Arrow, which kicked off the universe, ended its run last year. Supergirl is also set to conclude its run following its current season, with Black Lightning wrapping things up after season 4. Batwoman, meanwhile, is in the middle of season 2, with Superman & Lois airing an acclaimed first season. Legends of Tomorrow has, additionally, been renewed for season 7. So The CW will be in the DC superhero business for at least a few more years.

Jordan Fisher will become a recurring guest star following his debut. The main cast includes Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. The show is executive produced by ArrowVerse architect Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Supergirl), Eric Wallace (Teen Wolf, Eureka) and Sarah Schechter (Supergirl, Riverdale).

The Flash returns this week with a new episode titled Fear Me. It sees a powerful new villain channel and amplify everyone’s fears in order to wreak havoc on Central City. Barry realizes that he must face his own worst fear to beat this new threat. This will be the fifth episode of season 7, meaning we still have some time to wait before Bart Allen makes his debut. The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW. This news was previously reported by Variety.
