KSI buys stake in Dagenham & Redbridge FC in bid to take them to Premier League

KSI has bought a minority stake in Dagenham & Redbridge FC, hoping to take the non-league team to the Premier League.

“I’m so excited to start this journey. It’s gonna be a rollercoaster for sure but I hope to bring Dagenham & Redbridge back to the glory days,” KSI told the club’s website.

“And once we reach that point, I want to go even further. Reaching the Premier League would be a dream. And I believe it is 100 per cent doable.

“It will take a long time, so to the Daggers fans, please be patient.

“I want you to know that I am fully committed to making sure Dagenham & Redbridge is a team that everyone will know worldwide, and will be an exciting team to watch and support.”

Meanwhile, the club described KSI’s involvement as “its most significant strategic partnership to date”.

Currently, the east London club is in a sixth tier league. They were in League One for the 2009-2010 season but have not returned since after they were relegated. They dropped out of the English Football League altogether in 2015-2016.

KSI last caught up with NME on the red carpet at the 2025 BRIT Awards and discussed the mixed response to his single ‘Thick Of It’.

“For the positive, it was very small compared to the negative! There were a lot of people who heard the song and really enjoyed it.

“They were saying that it was on their playlist and they play it all the time. I know a lot of kids are obsessed with it, and whenever I perform the song it always pops off… But for the negative, oh my god! The memes!”

He continued: “I’ve got to be honest, it was funny. There were a lot of funny memes, like people who were in car crashes and while they were passed out, they’d wake up just to turn off the song. It was annoying at first, but then I realised I’ve got to accept it.

“The internet is the internet, it’s going to do its thing and you can’t fight it. You can try, but they’re going to win eventually. That is until I got a BRIT-nominated song, then I won! Does that mean I defeated the internet?”

KSI also dismissed rumours of more collaborations, telling NME: “I don’t want to collab with anyone, I need to do more songs by myself. I’m going to stick to my guns and not collab with anyone. That’s right, I’m going to release a song, by myself, and that is it.”
